Causes and hazards of anemia in women

Anemia occurs more frequently among women, which is related to monthly bleeding during menstruation, and of course, to malnutrition or weight loss. When anemia occurs, you must pay attention to it. Long-term anemia can lead to heart disease, and some people may also experience long-term diarrhea. Knowing the causes and dangers of anemia in women, it is important to seek timely treatment, and when women want to lose weight, they must ensure adequate nutrition.

What are the dangers of anemia in women?

1. Pale or sallow complexion, pale lips, conjunctiva and nail beds, dry hair, listlessness and easy fatigue.

2. Enlarged liver and spleen, accelerated heart rate, enlarged heart, and heart failure may occur in severe cases.

3. Decreased digestive function, loss of appetite, poor absorption, and frequent diarrhea.

4. Lack of concentration and feeling breathless and weak after a little activity.

5. In the later stages of anemia, edema of the head, face, and lower limbs may occur.

What are the five major causes of anemia in women?

1. Malnutrition

Nutritional anemia mainly refers to anemia caused by severe iron deficiency in the body, followed by vitamin deficiency.

Many women control their diet too much. They dare not touch meat, eggs and milk, and even eat less vegetable oil. They eat vegetarian food such as vegetables and radishes for a long time, which leads to anemia. In addition to general anemia symptoms such as dizziness, tinnitus, blurred vision, fatigue, dry and falling hair, patients may also suffer from loss of appetite, diarrhea, mouth ulcers, glossitis, etc.

2. Iron deficiency

Iron deficiency anemia refers to a type of microcytic hypochromic anemia caused by insufficient iron storage in the body, which affects hemoglobin synthesis. It is the most common type of anemia throughout the world, including in my country. The incidence of this disease is very high and is almost universal.

Iron is an important trace element for hematopoiesis, and dietary iron deficiency is the main cause of anemia. In addition, hookworm infection, gastrointestinal malabsorption, bleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers, hemorrhoidal bleeding, menorrhagia in women, and functional uterine bleeding in adolescence can all cause iron deficiency anemia.

① Drinking too much tea and coffee

Coffee and tea should be consumed in moderation, as too much is as bad as too little. Coffee contains a compound called carbolic acid, which can hinder the body's absorption of iron. People with iron deficiency anemia should not drink tea in particular. The tannic acid in strong tea will combine with iron to form insoluble substances, causing the iron to be excreted with feces. Women should avoid drinking coffee and tea during menstruation.

② Do not eat foods containing iron

82.64% of people do not often eat animal liver, 70.19% of people do not often eat kelp and seaweed, and 65.85% of people do not often eat iron-rich foods such as shiitake mushrooms, black fungus, spinach, seaweed, animal liver, animal blood and hawthorn.

It is difficult to ensure adequate iron intake by not eating meat or eating only fruits. Although some vegetables contain iron, they do not contain as much as meat. At the same time, the oxalic acid, phytic acid, phosphoric acid and a large amount of dietary fiber contained in plants will also affect the absorption of iron. The absorption rate is only one tenth of that of meat. Eating more fruits on a regular basis is indeed beneficial for maintaining inorganic salts, but fruits lack ingredients such as iron and calcium. If you take vegetables and fruits as your staple food for a long time, it is very easy to cause anemia.
