How to relieve stomach pain during pregnancy

Stomach pain during pregnancy is quite common in life. The main cause of stomach pain in pregnant women is the influence of hormone secretion after pregnancy, which often causes nausea, vomiting and stomach pain in pregnant women. In addition, as the fetus gradually develops, the uterus will compress the stomach and intestines, which can easily lead to stomach pain. This situation needs to be adjusted in time, especially in terms of diet. Let's take a look at this aspect.

How to relieve stomach pain during pregnancy

1. Reduce your diet appropriately

Many expectant mothers eat a lot of high-nutrition food during pregnancy, but at this time the gastrointestinal function is affected by hormones and uterine compression, and the digestive capacity is limited. Once the gastrointestinal burden is too heavy, it will cause stomach pain. Therefore, pregnant women should not eat too much, especially foods with high sugar content, but they can drink more light foods such as soup and porridge.

2. Semi-sitting position

If a pregnant woman feels unbearable stomach pain, she can take a semi-sitting position to relieve the pain.

3. Massage acupuncture points

(1) Massage Neiguan: Neiguan is located about four fingers’ width below the transverse wrist line, between the two tendons. Stay in a fixed position and use your thumb to massage in circles for about 3-6 times, alternating between both hands. If you are experiencing stomach pain, you can increase the number of times.

(2) Press Zusanli: Zusanli is located about four fingers’ width below the knee, at the tibia and fibula. Press with the top of your thumb 3-6 times. If stomach pain occurs, you can increase the number of times and the force can be increased appropriately.

4. Medication

If you often have stomach pain at night, you can take some medicine before going to bed as advised by your doctor. You can also take VE+VC or spirulina tablets to relieve stomach pain. If stomach pain is severe, you should seek medical attention immediately.

How to prevent stomach pain during pregnancy

1. Eat a balanced diet and eat small and frequent meals

Eat at regular times, at regular places, and in regular amounts. You can also eat more than one meal a day. The best time for eating is between half an hour and one hour. Don't eat too fast, maintain a good mood, eat three meals on time, and enjoy a good dining environment.

2. Eat fresh food and less spicy food

Pregnant women should not be fond of spicy and sour foods, but should eat more fruits and vegetables to supplement vitamins, which is beneficial to protect the gastric mucosa, enhance its defense ability, and help repair local lesions.

3. Get some exercise

Try to sit upright when eating, and don't hunch your back to prevent stomach acid from rising up. Don't lie down within half an hour after a meal. You can also do some exercises in your daily life: stand with your feet apart, put your hands on your knees, lean your body slightly, and start breathing. First take a deep breath, then exhale slowly, and slowly relax your abdominal muscles until all the air is out, then relax your muscles. Hold for 5-20 seconds and repeat 4-7 times to relieve constipation.

TIP: If a pregnant woman has gastritis before pregnancy, or is not sure whether her stomach pain is caused by gastritis or pregnancy, she should see a doctor to prevent the condition from getting worse.
