How long does it take to get your period after having an IUD installed?

IUD is a common contraceptive method for women. Although IUD insertion can prevent women from getting pregnant again, if you do not pay attention to care during the insertion, it will still have a great impact on women's menstruation. Many mothers will ask: How long will it take for menstruation to come after the IUD is inserted? If your body recovers well, your menstruation will return to normal after one or two months. If your menstruation has not come for a long time, it is best to go to the hospital for examination!

Precautions

1. During the IUD placement process, avoid contact between the instruments and IUD entering the uterine cavity and the vaginal wall.

2. If you feel that the IUD is not placed at the fundus of the uterus during insertion, you should remove it and reinsert it.

3. During the IUD placement process, if there is excessive bleeding, a feeling of emptiness in the instrument, abnormal depth of the uterine cavity, or sudden lower abdominal pain in the patient, the operation should be stopped immediately, the cause should be further checked, and appropriate measures should be taken.

4. The IUD should be removed within one year of menopause.

Postoperative Care

1. Rest for 3 days after the operation, avoid heavy physical labor within 1 week, avoid sexual intercourse and bathing within 2 weeks, and keep the vulva clean.

2. Within three months after the placement of the IUD, you should pay attention to whether the intrauterine contraceptive device is dislodged during menstruation and after defecation; those who have a tail-wire IUD should not use vaginal tampons during menstruation.

3. Understand the type of IUD, its usage period, and follow-up time. Check the IUD 3 to 5 days after the first menstrual period, and then check regularly thereafter. Follow-up examinations should be conducted 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after the operation, and once a year thereafter. Follow-up examinations should generally be arranged after the menstruation is over.

4. It is normal to have a small amount of vaginal bleeding and lower abdominal discomfort after insertion. If you have heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, fever, abnormal vaginal discharge, etc., you should seek medical attention immediately.

The insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD) is a safe, effective, economical, long-acting and reversible contraceptive method, and is the main contraceptive measure for women of childbearing age in my country. The IUD primarily blocks the meeting of sperm and egg. An IUD may make it more difficult for sperm to pass through the female reproductive tract, reducing the likelihood that sperm will fertilize an egg, and may also prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterine wall. There are two generations of intrauterine contraceptive devices: the first generation intrauterine contraceptive device, also known as the inert intrauterine contraceptive device, has a metal stainless steel spring or a single ring, double ring or twist shape, and also has plastic or plastic-metal mixed products; the second generation intrauterine contraceptive device, also known as the active intrauterine contraceptive device, slowly releases copper, anti-inflammatory hemostatic drugs or progesterone, has the activity that the first generation lacks, and further improves the contraceptive effect. At present, the second-generation intrauterine device is widely used at home and abroad.
