What is endometriosis?

What is endometriosis?

When women go to the hospital for a physical examination, the main parts of their bodies are checked on the uterus and breasts, because these areas are high-incidence areas for diseases. If the disease is not taken seriously, it may develop to the point where it cannot be reversed. The uterus has many appendages, and some diseases may affect women's lives, so female friends must have a certain understanding of gynecological diseases. Today I will explain to female friends what endometriosis is.

1. What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis lesions are actually a disease that is very common in women. We all know that if affected by this disease, the harm caused will be very serious. Therefore, in life, every female friend should be vigilant about the prevention of this disease. Here I will introduce some common knowledge and treatment issues of endometriosis lesions. I hope every woman can pay attention to it.

Endometriosis lesions in the abdominal wall incision are generally the result of endometrium implanted onto the abdominal wall incision during cesarean section. It changes with the menstrual cycle and is mostly local pain. Endometriosis lesions without abdominal wall incision will not cause infertility and miscarriage. There is no relationship between them, so don't worry. Surgery can be done to remove endometriosis lesions. If you want to have another child, there is no problem in removing the lesion during cesarean section. However, after 280 days of pregnancy, the ectopic endometrium does not undergo cyclical changes in menstruation and may atrophy. During the operation, it may be difficult to find the specific location, which increases the difficulty of the operation.

Most endometriosis lesions are located in the ovaries, uterosacral ligaments, serosa of the posterior wall of the lower uterus, rectal pouch, peritoneum of the sigmoid colon, and vaginal rectal diaphragm. Among them, invasion of the ovaries is the most common, accounting for about 80%. It can also be seen on the cervix, episiotomy, or abdominal wall surgical incisions. The disease can occur in the umbilicus, lungs, and limbs, but it is very rare. In fact, in addition to the spleen, there may be diseases in various parts of the body. If you want to protect your health, then when some abnormal conditions occur in the body, you must not ignore them. Because the more you ignore treatment, the more you allow the disease to develop, the more serious the natural impact and harm will be. As long as you are responsible for your health and discover the disease and treat it in time, you can solve the adverse effects it brings.

2. Preventive measures for endometriosis

1. Early detection and early treatment. Studies have found that endometriosis has a clear genetic tendency. Women whose mothers or sisters have endometriosis are about 7 times more likely to develop the disease than the general population. Therefore, women whose mothers or sisters have severe dysmenorrhea or are suspected of having endometriosis should take the initiative to get checked to facilitate early detection and seize the opportunity for treatment. If you are a patient with endometriosis, you should follow your doctor's instructions and have regular follow-up visits or check-ups.

2. Contraception by drugs: Long-term use of contraceptive pills can inhibit ovulation, cause endometrial atrophy and reduce menstrual volume, thereby reducing the chance of menstrual blood and endometrial debris flowing back into the abdominal cavity. However, women who are obese or smoke are not suitable for taking birth control pills and should discuss the decision with their doctor.

3. Avoid unnecessary surgical procedures: As mentioned above, artificial abortion will increase the chance of endometrial fragments flowing back into the pelvic cavity. The increase in cesarean sections in recent years has also increased the chance of endometrium implantation in the uterine muscle wall, pelvic cavity, abdominal wall and other parts. In addition, failure to strictly follow the indications for intrauterine contraceptive device placement and failure to promptly handle postoperative complications may increase the possibility of retrograde menstruation and endometrial implantation.

4. Strengthen exercise and enhance immunity. A woman's body must have a healthy immune system to effectively digest and process the flowing menstrual blood and endometrial tissue. A regular life, sufficient rest, proper diet and reasonable exercise can effectively improve immunity. It is also important to reduce stress in life and keep your body and mind happy. Depression and frustration will reduce immune function. Finally, I sincerely wish Xiaoling can get rid of the troubles of endometriosis as soon as possible and enjoy a happy life again.
