Edema in late pregnancy is it a boy or a girl

There have always been many legends about pregnant women with boys giving birth to girls, and everyone believes in them, especially those told by the old people. We begin to guess the gender of the baby in the belly from the early stages of pregnancy, based on the changes in the mother's body, and there are all kinds of names. So, will edema in late pregnancy lead to a boy? Let’s take a look together.

Does edema in pregnant women mean that they are pregnant with a boy?

In fact, there is nothing to do with edema during pregnancy and whether the baby is a boy or a girl. Whether a child is a boy or a girl is determined by the chromosomes of the baby. If the child's genetics are XX, it's a girl, and if it's XY, it's a boy. Swollen feet are just edema during pregnancy. You just need to pay attention to the blood circulation and the balanced combination of nutrients. Since fetal gender identification is illegal in China, various methods of predicting the baby's gender have become popular among the people.

Folklore method of predicting baby's gender

1. If the fetal heart rate is less than 140 beats/minute, the baby is a boy.

Experts say: Girls have higher heart rates than boys, but this is only true when they are just born. There is no difference between the heart rates of boys and girls in the fetus. The heart rate only changes with the gestational age. At about 5 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus' heartbeat is close to the parents' heart rate, which is 80 to 85 beats per minute. Then until the 9th week of pregnancy, the heart rate slowly increases to 170-200 beats per minute. Then during the middle of pregnancy, it slowly slows down to 120~160 beats/minute.

2. If the pregnant woman's abdomen is too prominent, it means she is a girl. If the abdomen is not too prominent or the lower abdomen is prominent, it means she is a boy.

Experts say: If pregnant women wear shorts, the space for the baby to grow can only expand outwards, so the abdomen will appear larger. On the contrary, pregnant women have long upper bodies, which can provide sufficient space for the baby to grow, and the abdomen does not need to protrude.
