What to do if vaginal adhesion

What to do if vaginal adhesion

We all know that one out of every 4,000 to 5,000 women does not have a vagina. If a woman is born without a vagina, she must have an artificial vagina made for her child. This will help expel the menstrual period when the woman enters her menstrual period. Otherwise, it is likely to cause poor health for the woman. Some women will also have adhesions at the vaginal opening. So what should be done about adhesions at the vaginal opening?

Vaginal adhesion is caused by inflammation in the early stage. If adhesions are not taken seriously, especially in children who are in the growth period, the adhesions at the vaginal opening will become more severe.

It may be vulvovaginitis caused by unclean vulva, which is caused by low estrogen levels, thin vaginal epithelium, and less glycogen, making it susceptible to infection by other bacteria, leading to purulent secretions. When ulcers occur, adhesions of the labia minora occur. It may also be congenital hymen atresia.

During outpatient clinic work, some parents anxiously claimed that their babies "have no vagina" and requested diagnosis and treatment. Examination revealed that the labia majora were normal, and the labia minora on both sides were adhered to form a membrane-like skin in the midline, covering the normal vaginal vestibule. A small hole was seen at the upper end of the adhesion near the clitoris, through which urine was discharged. Clinically, this is called labia minora adhesion. The treatment is very simple. Use a sterilized round-headed probe or small curved forceps to insert it from the small hole at the top and gradually separate it downward along the adhesion of the labia minora. The adhesion can be completely separated without causing bleeding, and the baby will feel no pain. Then apply a small amount of paraffin or ointment on the adhesive surface of the labia minora on both sides after separation. In order to prevent adhesion from happening again, parents can apply a small amount of ointment after cleaning the baby's vulva every night, and persist in doing so for a week.

Labia minora adhesion: generally caused by vulvar inflammation, a layer of gray, slightly transparent film connects the labia minora together. The vaginal opening cannot be seen from the outside, and it is easily misdiagnosed as a congenital malformation. Apply estrogen cold cream to the adhesion twice a day. It will usually separate naturally in 10 to 14 days. If it still has not separated, use a small curved forceps to insert the small hole at the front end and slowly move backwards to separate it.

Congenital absence of vagina: commonly known as "stone girl". This deformity is difficult to detect when one is young, and is usually discovered after marriage when one is unable to have sexual intercourse. Because the ovaries and uterus develop normally, but menstrual blood cannot be discharged, it is retained in the uterine cavity, which can cause uterine enlargement and abdominal pain, and is also the basis for early diagnosis. Girls with congenital absence of vagina undergo vaginal dilation or vaginal reconstruction before menarche.

You should take your child to a regular hospital's pediatric gynecology department for a check-up, and everything will be clear. Based on what you said alone, it is difficult for me to make a diagnosis based on the principle of making a clear diagnosis and not delaying the patient, as I did not see it with my own eyes. But I can tell you clearly that after examination and regular treatment, the child will not have any problems and will not have any major impact on his health.
