Correct posture for pregnant women to use moxa sticks

Moxibustion is a health-preserving method in traditional Chinese medicine , which mainly achieves the purpose of curing diseases and maintaining health by fumigating acupuncture points with moxa sticks. Moxibustion can improve sleep, physical fatigue and other symptoms, which are common during pregnancy. Because moxibustion is not a medicine, many pregnant women are willing to use moxibustion to improve their physical condition. So, what is the correct posture for pregnant women to use moxa sticks? Let’s take a look below.

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that uses moxa sticks to fumigate acupuncture points to achieve the effect of curing diseases and maintaining health. It can treat insomnia, physical fatigue, memory loss, joint pain and other symptoms. But generally speaking, moxibustion is not suitable for ordinary pregnant women, especially in the early stages of pregnancy. Moxibustion emphasizes acupoint therapy, which can cause bleeding. If you are not careful, it will be harmful to the fetus instead of beneficial.

However, for pregnant women with cold uterus, moxibustion can be used to dispel the cold and stabilize the fetus. In the late pregnancy, pregnant women can use moxibustion to correct malposition of the fetus, but moxibustion must be performed under the guidance of a dedicated doctor.

Generally, it is not suitable for pregnant women to do moxibustion during pregnancy , so can they do moxibustion after delivery? Postpartum moxibustion should be performed according to one's own physical condition, and the time should not be too long. In addition, moxibustion should not be excessive to avoid causing discomfort to the body.

Can pregnant women smell moxibustion?

Moxibustion leaves have little effect on pregnant women . Mugwort has no harm to pregnant women and can also help to stabilize the fetus. It can also purify the air and kill and inhibit bacteria. Scientific experiments have shown that mugwort has killing and inhibitory effects on pneumococcus, influenza bacillus, Escherichia coli, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, etc. The smoke from burning mugwort can kill up to 70% of the bacteria in the air.

Therefore , there is no effect on pregnant women smelling moxibustion. But it does not mean that pregnant women can deliberately smell moxibustion. Pregnant women have special physical conditions during pregnancy, and smelling it too much may be counterproductive and cause adverse effects!

Women should try not to do moxibustion during pregnancy . After giving birth, they should decide based on their actual physical condition. The duration and frequency of moxibustion should not be too long, so as not to cause greater harm to their health. If there are moxibustion devices at home, pregnant women should not worry too much even if they smell the smell.
