Is lower abdominal pain in women necessarily a gynecological disease?

If a woman experiences lower abdominal pain, it may be due to gynecological diseases. Of course, it may also be caused by other diseases. If it is a gynecological disease, the more common causes are dysmenorrhea, acute gynecological inflammation, or some chronic inflammation of the genitals, etc., which may cause lower abdominal pain. To determine whether you have a gynecological disease, you should go to the hospital for corresponding examinations in time.

1. Dysmenorrhea

There are two types of dysmenorrhea: primary and secondary. Primary pain often occurs in adolescent girls for unclear reasons. It usually heals itself as you age or after getting married and having children.

2. Lower abdominal pain caused by acute inflammation

Including acute endometritis, acute salpingo-oophoritis, pelvic peritonitis and acute pelvic cellulitis. It is also seen in sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea. This type of sexually transmitted disease includes gonococcal infection and chlamydia infection, which often recur. In severe cases, it can cause pyosalpinx and eventually lead to infertility.

3. Chronic inflammation of genitals

Women suffer from long-term lumbar and sacral pain and lower abdominal pain, which worsens after sex and during menstruation. It is often accompanied by increased leucorrhea, which is mostly caused by chronic cervicitis. If patients experience long-term lower abdominal distension and lumbosacral pain, which worsens after fatigue, sex, or before and after menstruation and are often accompanied by menstrual disorders and fatigue, most of them are caused by chronic pelvic inflammation.

4. Non-inflammatory lower abdominal pain

Common causes include ectopic pregnancy, ovarian tumor pedicle torsion and rupture.

1. Intra-abdominal bleeding caused by ectopic pregnancy

The pain symptoms vary depending on the amount and speed of bleeding.

2. Ovarian tumor pedicle torsion

When the pedicle of an ovarian tumor twists, pain will suddenly occur on one side of the lower abdomen, with persistent sacral pain, often accompanied by symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Ovarian cysts may also rupture, and after rupture the contents will irritate the peritoneum and cause pain.

5. Acute lower abdominal pain caused by other reasons

Ovarian endometrial cysts are chocolate cysts. During menstruation, the cysts grow larger and may rupture. The cyst contents irritate the peritoneum and cause severe abdominal pain.

6. Tumor pain

When gynecological malignancies develop to the late stage, unbearable and persistent pain may occur. Lower abdominal pain is often accompanied by lumbar pain, and the pain often radiates to the lower limbs.

7. Chronic lower abdominal pain

There are many causes, often accompanied by symptoms of lumbosacral pain and increased vaginal discharge. Most of them occur in diseases such as chronic inflammation of the reproductive organs, endometriosis, pelvic congestion, and psychological pelvic pain.

8. Ovulation

During the ovulation period, there is a feeling of distension and pain in the lower abdomen, which is caused by the rupture of the follicle. Generally speaking, this pain does not affect health and has no adverse consequences. However, in a very small number of people, due to large rupture of the ovarian follicle during ovulation, damage to small blood vessels causes ovarian rupture and intra-abdominal bleeding, resulting in gynecological emergencies and requiring hospital treatment.
