What to do if you have a double uterus? Treatment of double uterus

What is a double uterus? Uterus didelphys refers to a condition in which a woman has two uteruses, which is a congenital uterine abnormality. The symptoms are that the paramesonephric ducts on both sides of the double uterus are completely unfused, each develops into two uteruses and two cervixes, the vagina is also completely separated, and the left and right uteruses each have a single fallopian tube and ovary. Women with a double uterus not only often suffer from dysmenorrhea, but also affect conception. Close observation is also required after conception to avoid any danger.

What to do if you have a double uterus? Treatments for double uterus include endocrine therapy and hysteroscopy. If there is recurrent miscarriage or premature birth, hysteroplasty can be performed.

Specific treatment methods:

1. Endocrine therapy for double uterus:

Endocrine therapy is the targeted use of endocrine drugs based on the body's endocrine conditions. By understanding the patient's endocrine condition, using medication and physical therapy to stimulate the fused uterus, promoting the secondary development of the female uterus and gradually restoring the pregnancy environment, women with double uterus have the opportunity to resume menstruation and pregnancy functions. However, this endocrine treatment for double uterus is not very effective.

2. Hysteroscopic treatment of double uterus:

Hysteroscopic septal resection has replaced traditional laparotomy for correction. Hysteroscopic treatment uses monopolar or bipolar electrocautery to improve the uterine cavity morphology, and can be combined with laparoscopic surgery for treatment.

The process of hysteroscopic treatment is:

(1) Make a transverse incision from one uterine horn to the other uterine horn.

(2) Cut the muscle wall in half;

(3) Sew the left and right sides together.

Hysteroscopy combined with B-ultrasound or laparoscopic monitoring improves the safety of surgery and avoids the occurrence of serious complications such as uterine perforation. Hysteroscopic treatment has less trauma, faster recovery after surgery, shorter hospitalization time, and the postoperative live birth rate can reach 80-95%.

3. Hysteroplasty to treat double uterus:

Hysteroplasty is generally used to repair uterine malformations and is suitable for septum resection, rudimentary horn uterine resection, correction of uterine malformations, and fusion of bicornuate uterus. Restore uterine function through uterine plastic surgery.
