What to do if bacterial vaginosis recurs

Bacterial vaginosis is a very stubborn gynecological inflammation. If appropriate treatment methods are not used during the treatment period, it is easy to relapse and fail to be cured. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the cause of the disease. Here are some treatment methods.

Recurrent bacterial vaginosis:

1. Use medication in a standardized manner and adhere to treatment

Improper use of medication, cross infection and infection with special molds. Improper medication use includes failure to properly coordinate premenstrual oral medications and postmenstrual topical medications. These antifungal oral and topical medications need to be used for 3-5 days before and after menstruation. The disease is considered cured when routine examination of leucorrhea shows negative for fungi after three menstrual cycles. However, the time span is relatively long, and some patients may not persist in taking medication once their symptoms are slightly alleviated, resulting in incomplete treatment.

2. Sexual intercourse is prohibited, and husband and wife are subject to the same treatment

Cross-infection between sexual partners is also a major cause of recurrence of the disease. Sexual intercourse should be avoided during medication, and cross-infection between husband and wife should also be prevented after treatment. Before treatment, the fungi in a woman's vagina can be transmitted to her sexual partner, but there are generally no symptoms in men. When a woman is cured and then has sex with a man, she is likely to be infected again. Therefore, it is generally recommended that couples treat vaginitis together.
