Do you understand these methods to distinguish between benign and malignant ovarian cysts?

Most ovarian cysts are benign. When the disease worsens, it will form ovarian tumors. The difference between benign and malignant ovarian tumors is quite large, the difference in harmfulness is quite obvious, and the difficulty of treatment is also completely different. So how do we distinguish the benign and malignant nature of this disease?

1. Ovarian tumor is one of the common tumor diseases among women, and tumor diseases can be divided into malignant and benign. We know that benign ovarian tumors pose little harm to the body, but malignant tumors can pose a serious threat to women's lives. Therefore, when women find ovarian tumors, they must pay attention to it, make a timely judgment on whether it is good or bad, and receive timely treatment.

2. Ovarian tumors pose a great threat to women's health. They can occur at any age, especially in women of childbearing age. The incidence rate is high, accounting for about one-third of female reproductive organ tumors. According to European and American data, there has been a gradual increase in malignant ovarian tumors in recent years. Currently, there are not many methods for early diagnosis, and its mortality rate ranks first among gynecological malignant tumors. This deserves great attention.

3. Which ones are benign?

Ovarian cysts can be benign, borderline, or malignant. Initially, they appear as benign cysts, but some of them later turn into malignant ones. For example, ovarian epithelial tumors can be classified into benign, low malignant potential (also called borderline), and malignant. The common ovarian cysts that I want to introduce to you here are benign. The characteristics of this type of cyst are smooth surface and varying sizes, but it can also develop into a giant cyst; it can be a single cyst or multiple cysts, and each cyst cavity is of different sizes. These cysts can be divided into neoplastic and non-neoplastic. The non-neoplastic ones include: ① Follicular cysts, which are caused by follicular fluid retention. Most of them can disappear on their own in about two months without treatment; ② Corpus luteum cysts; ③ Corpus luteum cysts; ④ Polycystic ovaries; ⑤ Ovarian endometriosis (also known as chocolate cysts), most of which are benign.

4. How to distinguish between benign and malignant

As long as the patient cooperates with the doctor and undergoes necessary examinations, it is not difficult to determine the nature of the ovarian cyst. The patients have mastered the basic knowledge and can make some guesses on their own. Generally speaking, patients with benign ovarian cysts are in good condition, with slower cyst growth and longer course of disease; the surface of the tumor is smooth, with clear boundaries and is movable; there is no ascites, and the patient feels good. But malignant ovarian cysts are different. Patients often feel varying degrees of discomfort, sometimes with fever and rapid weight loss. The tumor grows rapidly, the course of the disease is short, there may be nodules on the surface of the tumor, and it is often accompanied by ascites. If malignant symptoms occur, go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
