Is microwave treatment good for cervical erosion?

Is microwave treatment good for cervical erosion?

There are several treatments for cervical erosion, including drug therapy, surgical treatment, physical therapy, and microwave therapy. Currently, drug and laser treatments are more common, and microwave treatment of cervical erosion is gradually being eliminated.

Microwave treatment for cervical erosion is a commonly used physical method. Compared with drug treatment, microwave treatment is not as effective as drug treatment. However, microwave therapy is an early physical therapy, so it has certain limitations. Microwave treatment of cervical erosion is usually limited to the surface of the cervix, or the depth of treatment is not well controlled, and the inflammation of the deep tissues of the cervix cannot be eliminated. Therefore, the erosion surface may be temporarily cured, but the root cause is not eliminated and it is easy to relapse. After all, this treatment is damaging and easily forms scars on the surface of the cervix. This treatment method is not recommended for patients with cervical erosion who have never given birth.

[Microwave treatment of cervical erosion causes severe trauma and is prone to recurrence]

1. The therapeutic effect is slow. It cannot be cured in one go and usually requires several courses of treatment. During treatment, inflammation can easily spread or worsen, making treatment more difficult.

2. Severe trauma. While microwaves kill bacteria and reduce inflammation of cervical erosion tissue, they may also destroy the cervical mucus cells or cause cervical adhesions, leading to infertility and dysmenorrhea due to the stenosis of the cervix or changes in the properties of mucus. Therefore, women who have not given birth must make careful choices.

3. Easy to relapse. Since microwaves can only sterilize and reduce inflammation on the eroded part of the cervical surface, it mainly targets symptoms and is a "pseudo-cure". It only relieves symptoms preliminarily, but is not actually a complete cure. Therefore, it will relapse after a period of time after seemingly being cured.
