Can girls get hemorrhoids?

Many people think that hemorrhoids are only common in men, but they overlook an important issue: women can also suffer from hemorrhoids. If women suffer from hemorrhoids, the impact and harm to the rectum is very large. Hemorrhoids are not gender-specific. If you do not pay attention to your daily maintenance and care, you will suffer from hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoidal disease is also caused by many people sitting for a long time. So, will girls suffer from hemorrhoids?

According to experts, hemorrhoids can be divided into three types: internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids and mixed hemorrhoids.

Common symptoms of internal hemorrhoids include blood in the stool, bleeding during or after defecation, which is often intermittent, painless, and cyclical. The blood is bright red and may stain toilet paper or drip or spurt. Frequent and heavy bleeding may cause severe anemia. Hemorrhoids may reposition themselves after prolapse, but sometimes they must be pushed back in place manually. Internal hemorrhoids are generally not painful. Sometimes the anus may feel heavy and swollen, and bowel movements may be uncomfortable, but when internal hemorrhoids become thrombosed, or prolapse and become incarcerated, they may cause severe pain. In addition, the anal skin is moist and itchy. Fear of internal hemorrhoid bleeding and prolapse may lead to habitual constipation and people are afraid of having normal bowel movements.

Common symptoms of external hemorrhoids include unclean anus, excess skin around the anus, and difficulty in wiping the anus clean after defecation. External hemorrhoids are prone to inflammation or hematoma. The pain is severe when the swelling occurs, especially when defecating, moving or sitting upright. The anus is swollen due to blood stasis, which bulges when squatting and disappears when lying flat.

Mixed hemorrhoids present with symptoms of both internal and external hemorrhoids.

Factors that make women more susceptible to hemorrhoids

Menstrual period

During menstruation, stools are often hardened due to blood loss. Squatting for a long time on the toilet will affect the blood circulation of the anus, increase the burden on the anus, and often cause difficulty in defecation and prolonged intervals. Defecation occurs only once every 2-3 days, causing congestion and edema of the rectum and anus, which not only makes hemorrhoids more likely to occur, but can also further aggravate existing hemorrhoids.

Women can also suffer from hemorrhoids. Women with hemorrhoids also need relevant care and improvement. They should eat more light foods and avoid spicy foods, as such foods can easily irritate the anus and worsen the hemorrhoids. They should also lower their knees for long periods of time. If they sit for long periods of time, it will cause great trouble to hemorrhoids. They should clean their anus regularly.
