What to do if pregnant women have anemia

It is actually quite common to experience anemia during pregnancy. After pregnancy, the baby gradually grows larger and a large amount of nutrients will be taken away from the mother's body. If the nutrition is not kept up in time at this time, it is easy to suffer from iron deficiency and lead to anemia. This situation not only affects the woman's body itself, but also has a great impact on the development of the baby in the womb. A woman's body needs a lot of iron during pregnancy, and if she does not get enough iron, she is prone to anemia. Let’s take a look at how to treat iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women with dietary treatment.

If you have anemia before pregnancy, you must improve this condition before getting pregnant. Because of anemia before pregnancy, this situation will continue into the pregnancy and delivery period. If you have mild anemia, you can eat some iron-rich foods. If the anemia is severe, medication must be used. Foods richest in iron: animal liver, blood products, lean meat, red meat, red beans, black fungus, sesame paste. Let me give you a few examples. For example, if you eat 100 grams of animal liver, how much elemental iron will it supplement for you? The recommended amount of iron during the second trimester is 28 mg per day. Animal blood, one hundred grams of duck blood can provide us with 35.8 mg.

Chicken blood can provide us with 25 mg. Pig blood: 8.7 mg. Duck liver can provide 35.1 mg of iron per 100 g. 100g pork liver: 12.6 mg. The iron contained in animal foods has a high absorption and utilization rate and is not easily affected by external factors. The absorption and utilization rate can reach 20% or even 30%. The blood absorption rate of plant sources is very low, generally less than 10%. The phytic acid, oxalic acid and gastric acid in food have a great impact on absorption. Therefore, we recommend that you mainly supplement your diet with blood from animal sources.

It should be noted that women should eat more iron-containing foods during pregnancy and ensure a balanced nutritional diet, so as to improve anemia. Do not be picky about food during pregnancy, eat more animal offal foods, and actively supplement folic acid when women are about 3 months pregnant to avoid cellular anemia caused by folic acid deficiency.
