What are the symptoms of oral ulcers in pregnant women

Oral sores after pregnancy are most likely oral ulcers, which are also called canker sores, and the incidence rate among pregnant women is very high. After the oral ulcer appears, it will be the size of a soybean. There may be only one, or multiple may grow at the same time. After the mouth ulcer appears, it will be obviously painful when it comes into contact with food. Oral ulcers in pregnant women usually heal on their own in about 1 to 2 weeks and generally do not require medication.

Oral ulcers are recurrent round or oval ulcers with the characteristics of "yellow, red, concave and painful", that is, the surface of the lesion is covered with a yellow or grayish white pseudomembrane; there is a congested red halo band of about 1 mm around it; the center is concave and the base is soft.

The attack cycle is about several days or months, and it is self-limited and heals without treatment. Ulcers are more common on non-keratinized or poorly keratinized mucosa such as the lips, tongue, cheeks, and soft palate, while keratinized mucosa such as the attached gingiva and hard palate rarely occur.

There are usually 3-5 ulcers, scattered around. The interval between ulcer recurrences ranges from half a month to several months, and some patients will experience recurrences and prolonged periods of ulcer recurrence. Some patients have a more regular onset cycle, such as before and after menstruation, or often develop the disease after fatigue.

More serious oral ulcers are large and deep, and may form scars or tissue defects after healing, so they are also called recurrent cicatricial aphthous ulcers.

It may be complicated by systemic symptoms such as bad breath, chronic pharyngitis, constipation, headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, irritability, fever, and swollen lymph nodes.

Generally speaking, people who are under too much psychological stress, have an unhealthy diet, or smoke or drink are more likely to develop oral ulcers. In addition, you may have eaten spicy food, had poor sleep at night, or drank too little water. To avoid oral ulcers, you should relax, drink plenty of water, and eat a diet rich in vitamins.
