How to calculate the number of weeks of pregnancy

How to calculate the number of weeks of pregnancy

As we all know, the normal gestation period is ten months. During these ten months, the fetus will grow and develop step by step until it is finally born. However, some pregnant mothers are very confused. They only know their approximate pregnancy months, but not the exact time of pregnancy. So, how can we calculate the number of weeks of pregnancy most accurately? Is there any way to calculate it?

How to calculate the most accurate number of weeks of pregnancy

1. Start calculating from the first day of the expected date of birth

The most common and more accurate way to calculate the time of pregnancy is to start counting from the first day of the expected date of delivery. This method is relatively simple, and everyone should still remember when the menstrual period came before. Let’s take today’s time as an example: today is July 28th, and assuming that the first day of your due date is June 20th, then as of today, your pregnancy days are 10 28, or 38 days.

Many people calculate the number of days of pregnancy from the day when the sperm and egg combine, that is, from the day of sexual intercourse. In fact, this kind of optimization method is incorrect. Because you can get pregnant before or after the due date, and some people are even pregnant before the due date. However, most people actually become pregnant during the ovulation period after the due date.

2. Calculate the length of the fetal sac and fetal bud by B-ultrasound

There are actually two ways. One is to measure based on the gestational sac, and the calculation method is: (length, width and height) 3 25, the enterprise is centimeters, and the result is the number of days. For example, if your gestational sac is 25, 24, 26, then the calculation is (25 24 26) 3 25 = 50. In other words, you are 50 days pregnant.

The other method is to measure based on the length of the embryo bud. The calculation method is: the embryo bud is 6.5, the enterprise is centimeters, and the result is the number of weeks. For example, if your embryonic bud is 6mm, then the number of days of pregnancy is 6mm=0.6cm, 0.6 6.5=7.1. In other words, your gestational age is 7.1 weeks, which is also 50 days.

The gestational sac and fetal bud are both detected through B-ultrasound, and the two calculation methods mentioned above have been tested by mothers and have been proven to be relatively accurate.

3. Calculate by pregnancy time

Calculating based on the time of pregnancy is also one of the ways to calculate the time of pregnancy. It is calculated like this: from the perspective of embryology, subtract 15 days from the number of days obtained by the calculation method mentioned above. This is the actual time of pregnancy, because this time is around the ovulation period. However, this algorithm is only applicable to women with regular menstruation. If your menstrual cycle is irregular, it is recommended to use the first algorithm.

If expectant mothers really don't know how to calculate, the easiest way is to go to the hospital to consult a doctor. The doctor will calculate how long you have been pregnant through examination. This is safe and there is no need to worry about miscalculation.
