Women should have a prenatal check-up every month when they are pregnant. During the B-ultrasound or color ultrasound, the doctor will tell you the amount of amniotic fluid, whether it is turbid, etc. Amniotic fluid refers to the fluid in the amniotic cavity of the uterus. The fetus grows gradually by absorbing nutrients from the amniotic fluid. However, during the examination, the doctor sometimes says that there is too much amniotic fluid. So what is the reason for too much amniotic fluid? Is it related to drinking water? The amount of amniotic fluid has nothing to do with whether you like to drink water normally. Amniotic fluid is the fluid in the amniotic cavity. In the early stages of pregnancy, the maternal plasma leaks through the fetal membrane into the amniotic cavity; in the middle stages of pregnancy, the fetus has the ability to urinate, and urine mixes into the amniotic fluid; in the late stages of pregnancy, the amount of fetal urine increases, and fetal urine becomes the main component of the amniotic fluid. At the same time, the fetus swallows the amniotic fluid, and the amniotic fluid enters the fetal blood circulation from the digestive tract, forms urine, and is then discharged into the amniotic cavity. In addition, the umbilical cord also has the function of absorbing amniotic fluid. The fetus's self-regulatory function allows the amniotic fluid to maintain a relative balance. Therefore, excessive amniotic fluid has nothing to do with drinking too much water. The amount of amniotic fluid varies in different months of pregnancy. If the amount of amniotic fluid exceeds 2000 ml, it is called polyhydramnios. Diseases that cause polyhydramnios are commonly the following: 1. Maternal and fetal diseases: Whether it is the pregnant woman or the fetus, certain diseases will cause excessive amniotic fluid. For example, gestational diabetes, pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome, severe anemia and RH blood type incompatibility. Especially gestational diabetes can increase fetal blood sugar, fetal urine, and sugar content in amniotic fluid, causing water in the amniotic membrane and fetal membrane to be absorbed into the amniotic fluid, thus causing polyhydramnios. 2. Fetal malformations: anencephaly, spina bifida, esophageal atresia, small intestinal atresia and heart and kidney malformations can all cause polyhydramnios. 3. Twins and placental abnormalities can also cause polyhydramnios. 4. Unexplained polyhydramnios. After the above introduction, we know that excessive amniotic fluid has nothing to do with drinking water. Excessive amniotic fluid indicates that the mother already has a disease or the fetus is deformed. Therefore, pregnant women must prevent polyhydramnios and have regular prenatal check-ups. Once there is excessive amniotic fluid, they must be checked in time to find out the cause and then treat it symptomatically. Don't be careless. |
