What are the symptoms of cervical cysts?

What are the symptoms of cervical cysts?

Many women do not pay much attention to their physical health and do not know much about cervical cysts. Only when they suffer from this disease will they notice that some of their early symptoms have hinted at their condition. In fact, the symptoms of cervical cysts are generally not obvious, and are mainly manifested in symptoms such as lumps and pain in the lower abdomen and abnormal leucorrhea. So, what do we need to do to prevent and treat it?

Symptoms of cervical cysts:

1. Lower abdominal symptoms: Women with cervical cysts generally do not have obvious symptoms. Sometimes they may feel a lump in the lower abdomen, which may be accompanied by lower abdominal pain.

2. Lower urinary tract symptoms: Symptoms of cervical cysts include urinary urgency, frequent urination, painful urination and other lower urinary tract symptoms.

3. Bulging of the fundus or posterior wall of the uterus: Women with cervical cysts will have symptoms of bulging of the fundus or posterior wall of the uterus, and a local cystic feeling. The symptoms can be divided into three types: subserosal, intramural and submucosal.

(1) If it is a pedunculated submucosal cyst, it may sometimes protrude outside the cervical os.

(2) Pathological examination of cervical cysts shows that the cyst wall originating from the mesonephric duct is mostly composed of columnar or stratified squamous epithelium.

(3) The cyst wall originating from the paramesonephric duct is mostly composed of ciliated columnar epithelium.

4. Abnormal leucorrhea: Women with cervical cysts may experience increased leucorrhea, or thick, yellow leucorrhea. Sometimes, blood may be found in the leucorrhea, and contact bleeding may also occur.

5. Purulent secretions: This is mainly caused by infection with Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Due to the involvement of the paraurethral glands and Bartholin's glands, purulent secretions flow out of the cervical canal. The cervix is tender, brittle, and easily bleeds when touched. The urethral and vaginal openings may also be congested and edematous, as well as showing a large amount of purulent secretions.

How to treat cervical cysts

How to treat cervical cysts? The treatment of cervical cysts should choose different treatment methods according to the degree of dispersion of the cysts. If the ovarian cysts are relatively dispersed, no treatment is required. If they are relatively dense, phototherapy, microwave, laser and other treatment methods should be used.

1. The cysts are small and scattered: If the cervical cysts are small and scattered, this type of cervical cyst generally does not require treatment. Just go to the hospital for annual check-ups, do cervical smears, and observe the degree of dispersion and changes in the cysts to prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions.

2. The cysts are small and dense or large and dense: The treatments for this type of cervical cysts include general treatment, surgical treatment, physical therapy, etc.

(1) General treatment:

The general treatment is mainly to use feminine care liquid to clean the vulva for minor infections, so as to prevent harmful bacteria from invading the vagina and inducing inflammation. Because harmful bacteria will first enter the female vaginal vault and cervix from the mucosa and wrinkles of the side walls of the vagina, thereby inducing vaginitis and causing inflammation.

(2) Surgical treatment:

Surgical treatment is used to treat cervical cysts larger than 3 centimeters. If medication cannot control the condition, in order to prevent the cyst from continuing to grow, surgical treatment should be performed as soon as possible to control the growth of the cyst in time. Commonly used surgical methods for cervical cysts include LEEP knife (Lip knife or ultra-high frequency radiofrequency knife), BBT self-coagulation knife (radio frequency minimally invasive self-coagulation knife), hysteroscopy and other minimally invasive surgeries. Surgical resection treatment is followed by auxiliary drug treatment to accelerate the repair of the cervix.

(3) Physical therapy: Physical therapy methods include phototherapy, laser, microwave, cryotherapy, STG high-frequency radio wave technology, ultrasound, etc.

Does cervical cyst affect fertility?

Cervical cysts generally do not affect fertility, but if scars form at the location of the cervix, this will affect natural childbirth. Because cervical cyst is a common manifestation of chronic cervicitis, if the glandular duct is squeezed by the surrounding tissues, the glandular opening will be blocked, resulting in the secretions inside the gland being unable to flow out, and thus being retained in the gland, further promoting the expansion of the glandular cavity and leading to the formation of cystic tumors of varying sizes.

If not treated promptly, when these cystic tumors form too much, they will aggravate the obstruction of the cervical opening, which will have a direct impact on the smooth passage of sperm through the cervical opening. In severe cases, it can easily lead to infertility, thus affecting normal fertility. Therefore, if you have cervical cysts, you should go to the hospital for examination and receive treatment according to the doctor's advice. If the cysts are small and scattered, you should also have an annual examination to prevent the condition from getting worse.
