If the fibroids grow rapidly, resulting in a relative lack of blood supply, some tissues will become edematous and softened, the whorl structure will disappear, and will be replaced by a uniform transparent substance. About 0.4%-0.6% of uterine fibroids will transform into sarcomas, which is common in older people with larger and faster-growing fibroids, especially in elderly women with rapidly growing fibroids after menopause or fibroids that reappear after menopause. If the fibroids become malignant, surgery is required as soon as possible.
