Is calcification of breast fibroids serious? What should I do?

Breast diseases are very common among women. Some people will develop breast fibroadenomas, which are benign tumors, so some people do not take them seriously. As the tumors develop slowly, they begin to calcify. At this time, patients will become nervous, fearing that the disease is difficult to cure. So, is it serious after the calcification of breast fibroids? How should it be treated better?

Generally speaking, breast fibroid calcification refers to the appearance of calcification points on the original breast fibroid. Breast fibroids are mostly benign, and are various types of benign tumors occurring in the breast and its accessory tissues. There are many types and categories of tumors based on their tissue origin, location, cell type, morphology and arrangement, including epithelial benign tumors and benign mesenchymal-epithelial mixed tumors.

Among breast diseases, the incidence of breast fibroadenoma ranks third after cystic breast hyperplasia and breast cancer. Fibroids and fibroadenomas account for about 3/4 of all breast diseases. It is more common in young women aged 20 to 25 years old. Among benign tumors, it is very important to do a good job of breast tumor examination, especially for women aged 20 to 25 years old who are in their prime sexual function. Because during pregnancy, lactation or premenopause, the large amount of estrogen secreted can cause tumors to grow rapidly; animal experiments have also confirmed that large amounts of estrogen can induce tumor formation.

How serious is the calcification of breast fibroadenomas? Although breast fibroadenomas are benign, they may also become malignant. Once discovered, they should be surgically removed. Breast tumor examination should be done well. Surgery can be performed under local anesthesia, with radial incisions made on the skin surface of the tumor. After the tumor is exposed, the tumor and its capsule are completely removed. It is then routinely sent for pathological examination to rule out the possibility of malignant lesions.

Breast fibroids are benign tumors, but they should not be taken lightly. They should be treated promptly and surgically removed to prevent further development of the fibroids and the calcification of the fibroids. Of course, even if calcification occurs, don’t worry too much. Active treatment can have a good prognosis.
