What are the colors of lochia after caesarean section?

When women choose to have a cesarean section, they need to understand all aspects, so that they will have some knowledge of what to do after the cesarean section. After a cesarean section, it takes a long time for a woman's body to recover, and during the recovery process, women cannot get angry, otherwise it will have a great impact on their body. So what are the colors of lochia after cesarean section? Many women don't understand this.

Caesarean section lochia color:

1. Red lochia

Red lochia, also known as bloody lochia, is the secretion discharged from the first to fourth day after delivery, and appears within 1 week after delivery. There is a large amount of blood, bright red color, and it contains blood, small blood clots, and necrotic decidual tissue, with a bloody smell. Necrotic decidua contains a large amount of serous lochia: appears within 1 to 2 weeks after delivery. The amount is smaller than before, the color is light red and serous, containing a small amount of blood, but more necrotic decidual tissue, cervical mucus, vaginal discharge and bacteria.

2. Serous lochia

Serous lochia is also called pink lochia. The lochia is light pink and contains a small amount of blood, mucus, and more vaginal secretions, as well as bacterial growth. It is discharged about 4 to 6 days after delivery.

3. White lochia

Lochia alba is white or yellowish lochia that is discharged one week after delivery. Appears within 2 to 3 weeks after delivery. The amount is smaller, it is viscous and white or light yellow in color, shaped like leucorrhea, more than leucorrhea, and contains a large number of white blood cells, degenerated decidua, epidermal cells and bacteria.

Although every parturient has lochia, the amount discharged is different for each person, with the average total amount being about 500 to 1000 ml. The duration of discharge varies from woman to woman. Normal women usually need 2 to 4 weeks, while a few women can last 1 to 2 months.

After understanding the color of lochia after cesarean section, if a woman's lochia is not the right color after cesarean section, she should undergo a physical examination so that she can have some specific understanding of herself. It should also be noted that after cesarean section, women should choose liquid food, which is very helpful for physical recovery.
