Is it OK to use baking soda to clean your vagina?

We know that for female friends, the vagina has a relatively complex structure and is close to the urethral opening, making it extremely susceptible to infection by external pathogens. Therefore, cleaning and caring for the vagina is very important. It can not only make it cleaner and more comfortable, but also prevent some gynecological diseases. Some people have suggested using baking soda to clean the vagina, which can have a bactericidal effect. Is this appropriate?

Baking soda refers to sodium bicarbonate. If you have candidal vaginitis, you can use baking soda to flush the vagina because it can change the acidity and alkalinity of the vagina. However, if it is an inflammation, you cannot use baking soda water to wash, as it will destroy the normal microbial environment and mucosal barrier, leading to vaginitis.

Since using baking soda to clean the vagina is only suitable for cleaning in an environment with candidal vaginitis and is not suitable for use in inflammation, what other ways can we take care of it in normal times:

1. Prepare your own special cleaning basin, cleaning utensils and towels. Cleaning utensils should be washed before use, and towels should be dried in the sun or in a ventilated place after use. It is best to expose them to the sun to facilitate sterilization and disinfection. Because towels are not exposed to sunlight for a long time, they are prone to breed bacteria and fungi.

2. Wash the vulva with warm water. If you must use soap, choose baby bath soap with less irritation to reduce irritation to the skin.

3. After defecation, wipe from front to back with toilet paper, and it is best to develop the habit of washing or flushing the anus with warm water. If it is not wiped clean, fecal stains will remain at the anus and contaminate the underwear. The intestinal bacteria contained in the feces stains will take the opportunity to enter the vagina and cause inflammation.

4. During menstruation, wash the vulva frequently with warm water and change sanitary napkins frequently to prevent blood stains from becoming a breeding ground for bacteria.

5. When cleaning, do not use highly alkaline soaps or chemicals such as potassium permanganate to avoid changing the normal acidic environment of the vagina.

It can be seen from this that the use of sodium bicarbonate to prepare and clean the vagina depends on whether there is an inflammation problem, and frequent use can easily change the acidity and alkalinity of the vagina. It is not recommended for everyone. If it is normal care and cleaning, it is recommended to use a milder care solution. In addition, close-fitting clothing must be kept clean and hygienic to avoid bacterial invasion.
