Eyelid swelling is usually related to nephritis, so in your case you should first do a routine urine test to determine whether there are any kidney problems. In addition, eye diseases such as conjunctivitis can also cause swelling, so you need to go to an ophthalmologist for a check-up.

You may have blepharitis and need to find out the cause and treat it. There are many factors that cause blepharitis. Overwork of the eyes causes the orbicularis oculi muscles around the eyes to contract and block the gland opening. Rubbing the eyes with dirty hands causes bacteria to enter through the gland opening. Food-related allergies, such as some people's addiction to seafood, chocolate, etc. If you have recurrent styes, you should pay attention to the whole body check for diabetes. For the treatment of blepharitis, ice compresses and anti-inflammatory eye drops should be used. If necessary, the cyst should be cut open to drain pus. You will be taken to the local ophthalmology hospital for a detailed examination.

Method 1: Alternate hot and cold compresses on the face

First apply a hot towel to your face, then switch to a cold towel, and repeat this process about three times. The time ratio of hot compress and cold compress is 1:2. You need to apply it on your face for at least fifteen minutes to see the effect.

Principle: Alternating hot and cold facial compresses allows the blood vessels to expand first and then contract, which can promote blood circulation in the skin and help drain excess moisture from the face. However, it is important to control the temperature of the hot towel and not make it too hot to avoid scalding the skin.

Method 2: Salt water eye compress

Add a teaspoon of salt to 500 ml of warm water (40° is fine) and stir it well. Soak the gauze in salt water and allow it to fully absorb the salt water. Then fold the gauze into an appropriate size and apply it on your eyes for 20 minutes.

Principle: Using the principle of high osmotic pressure, apply highly concentrated saline solution to the eyes, forcing the moisture in the eyes to drain out of the eyes. It is important to control the temperature when applying hot compress so as not to burn the eyes and skin.

Method 3: Acupoint massage

Use your fingertips to press the skin around the eyes. Press each position for 5 seconds and repeat three times in total to effectively eliminate eye puffiness.

Principle: Acupoint massage can stimulate the corresponding skills of the body. The acupoints of the eyes are related to the functions of the internal organs. Appropriate stimulation can help eliminate edema.

Massage steps:

Relax tense muscles: Press with the middle and ring fingers above the eye sockets, and repeat 3 times from the corner of the eye to the end of the eye.

To activate eye circulation: Use your ring finger to make small circles from the outer corner of the eye to the corner of the eye. Repeat 5 times.

Counterclockwise direction: Starting from the corner of the lower eyelid, use your ring finger to make small circles and press in a counterclockwise direction.

Gently press the acupoints: slowly extend the pressure to the temples, slightly increase the force and hold for 3 seconds, repeat 3 times.
