Causes of missed periods

Causes of missed periods

Menstruation is a sign of female maturity, but this situation must be paid attention to. Especially in life, some women have their menstrual period, but find that their period is delayed. So what is the reason for amenorrhea? Let’s take a look at the reasons for amenorrhea so that we can take measures to treat the symptoms.

There are actually many reasons for not having menstruation, because the occurrence of menstruation has always indicated that there are many physiological changes in our female body. For example, if we become pregnant, our menstruation will stop. If gynecological inflammation occurs, our menstrual volume or color will also change, which is an alarm for the disease.

You can test your urine with an early pregnancy test strip 7 days after your period is delayed. If the result is positive, you are very likely pregnant. If the result is negative, then vice versa. But if you are pregnant, there will be other symptoms such as nausea, breast tenderness, etc. Of course, the last resort is to go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination.

If endocrine disorders occur after taking contraceptives, menstruation may be delayed. Doctors also found, based on patient feedback, that a new generation of gastrokinetic drug, metoclopramide, also known as domperidone, may also cause this condition. Since metoclopramide does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier, it is believed that it has no inhibitory effect on central dopamine receptors. Central dopamine receptors are inhibited, resulting in a decrease in the amount of hypothalamic release factors entering the anterior pituitary. As a result, the anterior pituitary secretes less gonadotropin and corticotropin, leading to amenorrhea and delayed ovulation.

There are actually many reasons why women do not have menstruation. In addition to the reasons mentioned above, there are also reasons caused by surgery, mood, stress that leads to no menstruation, smoking and drinking factors, drug abuse, contraceptive ring placement, etc., which can also lead to physical menstrual abnormalities or no menstruation. We need to understand this.
