If these factors appear, the baby may be a "high-risk baby"! Learn in advance to be prepared

The arrival of every new life carries the hopes and dreams of the family, however, not all newborns can embark on a smooth journey of growth. With the continuous advancement of medical technology, the mortality rate of newborns has been greatly reduced, but the high-risk babies who survive have also become a group that needs special attention.

Today, an expert from the Neonatology Department of Hunan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine will talk to you about the relevant knowledge about high-risk babies.

1. What are high-risk children?

High-risk children refer to children who have various risk factors that affect their growth and development during the fetal period, delivery, and neonatal period, or special children whose physical, psychological and behavioral development deviates from the normal trajectory during routine child health examinations.

1. What are the high-risk factors?

① High-risk factors during the fetal period: intrauterine distress, intrauterine infection, umbilical cord around the neck, multiple pregnancy, premature rupture of membranes, placental abruption, maternal gestational hypertension, etc.

② High-risk factors during delivery: dystocia, cesarean section, labor asphyxia, etc.

③ High-risk factors in the neonatal period: premature babies, post-term babies, low birth weight babies, neonatal infection, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, neonatal hypoglycemia, etc.

2. Prevention of high-risk infants

① Prenatal care: Strengthen nutrition, avoid bad living habits, have regular prenatal checkups, and promptly detect and deal with high-risk factors that may affect the fetus during pregnancy.

②Genetic counseling and screening: Families with a family history of genetic diseases should undergo genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis to identify and prevent the occurrence of genetic diseases in advance.

③Optimize the reproductive environment: avoid early or late childbearing, and reduce environmental pollution and exposure to harmful substances.

3. Methods of intervention and management for high-risk infants

① Establish a high-risk child file: Establish a detailed health file to record the monitoring results of high-risk factors, growth and development, psychological behavior, etc.

② Growth monitoring and developmental assessment: Develop personalized monitoring plans based on the specific circumstances of high-risk infants, and conduct regular assessments of physical, psychological and behavioral development.

③ Nutritional management: Provide personalized feeding guidance based on the nutritional needs of high-risk infants, add complementary foods, supplement vitamin D, iron, etc. in a timely manner to ensure adequate nutritional intake and promote growth and development.

④Early intervention training: Early intervention training is carried out in the first few years, such as sports training, cognitive training, language training, etc.

2. The role of the family in the management of high-risk children

The family is the warmest harbor for high-risk children during their growth, and the love, patience and companionship of parents are crucial. Parents should actively participate in the management and intervention of high-risk children, ensure the children's nutritional intake in daily family activities, provide them with sufficient opportunities for sports and exploration, build a language environment, reasonably guide their emotions and expressions, and cultivate good behavioral habits.
