Pictures of needles used for cesarean section anesthesia

I believe everyone has been very afraid of injections in childhood, and even felt terrified when seeing the needle. However, during a caesarean section, no matter how worried pregnant mothers are, they cannot avoid the fact that they must receive anesthesia before delivery. So, is the needle used for cesarean section anesthesia longer?

Since a cesarean section is decided, the surgery must be performed under local anesthesia. After all, it is a surgery and anesthesia is definitely required. The needle used for anesthetics in clinical medicine is about eight centimeters long. The needle used for anesthesia is actually similar to a lumbar puncture needle, so it must be longer, otherwise it cannot be injected inside.

The most commonly used method in clinical medicine is intervertebral disc anesthesia. In other words, the doctor will inject anesthetics into the intervertebral disc of the pregnant woman. This type of anesthesia method is quite different from other surgical anesthesia methods, and the location of anesthesia is also very different. Since cesarean section requires anesthesia on the intervertebral disc, mothers must be brave.

And when giving anesthesia, the time will be slightly longer, generally it takes 30 minutes, because after all, the location of the anesthetic is very unique, and it is also a test for the anesthesiologist. Therefore, when deciding to have a cesarean section, it is best to choose an experienced doctor. The experience of the anesthesiologist is also very important, so as to relieve your pain.

Caesarean section anesthesia for more than ten minutes

Cesarean section is the most common surgical treatment in obstetrics. Cesarean section first requires anesthesia. Due to the uniqueness of cesarean section, the most common methods of anesthesia are epidural anesthesia, spinal anesthesia and general anesthesia. Epidural anesthesia is the injection of anesthetics into the epidural space through a puncture, spinal anesthesia is the injection of anesthetics into the brain tissue, and general anesthesia is the injection of anesthetics into the blood. At present, the most common method of anesthesia is combined spinal-epidural anesthesia. This type of anesthesia is very simple to operate, has a very good anesthetic effect, is effective and fast, and is relatively safe. It is the preferred anesthesia for cesarean section.

Nowadays, with the improvement of living standards, many pregnant women choose cesarean section directly because they are afraid of pain. Although there is the effect of anesthetics during the operation and they do not feel pain, the healing of the wound and the contraction of the uterus after the operation will cause certain pain. The anesthetic can only last for 6 to 8 hours after the operation. Now, hospitals with better medical standards have a pain pump, which can be used for 24 hours after the operation and can relieve the pain after the operation to a certain extent.

There are two types of anesthesia for cesarean section surgery:

One is epidural anesthesia or joint anesthesia injected on the waist, which is commonly known as half anesthesia. There is no feeling from the surgical area to the feet, and it is painless;

One is due to low platelets, or because the condition is more serious and requires general anesthesia, which is a tracheotomy combined with intravenous anesthesia. Intravenous medication is not injected on the waist. If it is injected on the waist, it is usually in the intervertebral disc space. After the site is fixed and disinfected, a small needle is injected into the subcutaneous tissue, and a local anesthetic needle is injected into the subcutaneous tissue to create a skin mound. Then, after the local anesthetic is used up, a puncture device that is slightly larger and thicker than the previous needle is inserted into the intervertebral space. Although this puncture is a bit large, it feels different and a little sore.

Cesarean section surgery usually chooses spinal anesthesia, that is, spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia or combined spinal-epidural anesthesia. For spinal anesthesia, during lumbar puncture, local anesthetics are introduced into the subarachnoid space, and then the needle can be removed and the anesthesia can be taken effect. For epidural anesthesia or combined spinal-epidural anesthesia, after the drug is introduced into the epidural space or arachnoid membrane, the puncture device is withdrawn and a tube is placed in the epidural space for convenient and direct drug administration. The epidural tube can be removed after the operation is completed. Some hospitals offer epidural analgesia, and the epidural tube can be removed only after the analgesia is completed.
