LinkedIn has 175 million members, with 2 people signing up every second

September 7, 2012, according to foreign media reports, LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner recently revealed some business data at the Citi Technology Summit. The CEO said that every second, two people around the world register on this social recruitment website.

Wenner said at the conference that the website currently has 12,000 corporate customers, and its flagship product "Recruiter" costs $8,000 per person per year. This product is aimed at corporate personnel responsible for recruitment, and the original price was $6,000. He said that the price will not be increased in the near future.

More than 2 million companies have established corporate information pages on LinkedIn. Ordinary users can follow such pages to get timely news. Large companies like IBM have more than 500,000 followers. Followers may be company employees, competitors, job seekers or people who are simply interested in the company. LinkedIn announced today that it will make some adjustments to the page to increase ease of use.

Wenner noted that the site's largest corporate customers spend millions of dollars a year on average, while smaller companies spend $25 a month.

LinkedIn currently has 175 million members, with 2 new members signing up every second. With an estimated global population of white-collar workers exceeding 600 million, the site still has growth potential. There are also more than 1 million groups on LinkedIn, ranging in size from 2 to 250,000 people.

More than 75,000 developers are using LinkedIn's API to build applications, most of whom joined in the past year.

Wenner said the company has sales offices in 25 cities around the world and offers 17 language versions of the website. About 62% of LinkedIn's members are from outside the United States, and its growth rate is also faster than that of the United States. Despite this, international users only contribute about one-third of the company's revenue.

Mobile user engagement is gradually increasing, although it does not yet generate much direct revenue. Last year, 10% of unique visitors used the mobile client to access LinkedIn, and this year the number is 23%.

"People use the site as a way to find a job," Winer said. "But LinkedIn is more than that. It's a way to make the job you already have more successful."
