How long does it take to get menstruation after a normal birth?

Some will be repaired after the product is released, while others will require waiting for a while before they can be repaired slowly. Therefore, for many pregnant women who have not yet resumed their menstrual periods, after the birth of their newborns, they are very concerned about how long it will take for them to have their period. So, how long does it take for menstruation to come after a normal birth?

1. The time of menarche after normal delivery is not fixed: There is no fixed timetable for how long it will take for menstruation to come after normal delivery. If it is early, menstruation will come after the child is one month old, and if it is late, it may take a year. Generally speaking, for pregnant women who choose natural delivery, if they are in good health, have a good postpartum recovery, and have a short breastfeeding time, their menstruation will resume early; if they are in poor physical condition, have an less than ideal postpartum recovery, and have a long breastfeeding time, their menstruation will resume relatively later.

The earliest women to resume menstruation after a normal birth have their menstrual period resumed just after the baby is one month old. However, some pregnant women who have poor postpartum recovery and weak physical constitution may take more than a year to resume their menstruation.

2. Ovarian recovery after normal delivery: Compared with most pregnant women who choose natural delivery, their ovaries have basically recovered about 5-6 weeks after natural delivery, and the presence of progesterone can be clearly observed after ovulation.

For pregnant women who choose natural birth and do not breastfeed, nearly 50% of them will resume ovulation 40-50 days after the birth of their newborn. In other words, more than 65% of these pregnant women who choose natural birth will resume their menstruation within 6-8 weeks after the birth, while only about 20% of pregnant women who choose natural birth and do not exclusively breastfeed have not resumed ovulation and menstruation 2-3 months after the birth of their newborn. However, some pregnant women who have been breastfeeding and choose natural childbirth have restored normal ovulation and normal menstruation about 12-14 weeks after natural childbirth. Among them, nearly 80% of pregnant women who are exclusively breastfeeding do not restore ovulation and menstruation until about 16-18 weeks after the birth of the newborn.

3. Changes in menstrual volume: There is no accurate timetable for how long it will take for menstruation to come after a normal birth. Pregnant women who choose a normal birth do not have to worry about delayed menstruation. Generally speaking, there are no serious problems. In most cases, the first menstrual flow of pregnant women who choose natural delivery will be heavier than the previous menstrual flow before pregnancy, and it will generally recover by the second month. Pregnant women do not need to panic too much. If they find any discomfort symptoms, they should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
