There is a saying that there is a "golden four minutes of rescue time" for sudden cardiac death. Correct use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within four minutes can greatly improve the effectiveness of pre-hospital emergency care and effectively prevent sudden death.
If CPR is performed after more than 4 or 6 minutes, the probability of the patient being saved will drop to 10%;
Over 6 minutes, the survival rate is only 4%;
If the time exceeds 10 minutes, the survival rate is 0.

1. Assess the scene. When a patient suddenly falls to the ground, immediately lay the patient flat on the ground or a hard board, and make sure the scene and surrounding environment are safe to avoid secondary injuries.
2. Determine whether the patient is conscious by patting his shoulders and calling out (for example, "Sir, sir, what's wrong with you?").
3. Determine vital signs by checking whether the patient's chest is rising and falling, and palpate the carotid artery to see if there is a pulse. The above operations must be completed within 10 seconds.
120 First Aid When the patient is not breathing, there is no chest rise and fall, and there is no pulse in the carotid artery, cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be performed immediately, and a designated on-site personnel should call the emergency number 120 and quickly obtain an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Treatment
1. Turn on the power. After obtaining the AED, place the AED next to the patient, open the AED cover, insert the electrode plug into the AED host jack, and turn on the power. Note that while preparing the AED, continue to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
2. Place the electrodes. Undress the patient and make sure the patient's chest is dry and unobstructed. Apply two electrodes to the outside of the patient's left nipple and the top of the right chest. If the patient is drowning, wipe the chest dry before applying the electrodes; make sure the chest skin is unobstructed. If the patient has a lot of hair on the chest, use the razor that comes with the defibrillator to shave the hair (this operation can be ignored in an emergency); female patients should take off their underwear before using the defibrillator.
3. Defibrillation: Operate the AED according to the voice prompts and wait for the AED to analyze the heart rhythm. Avoid touching the patient during the analysis to avoid inaccurate analysis. After the analysis is completed, the AED will issue a recommendation on whether to perform defibrillation. After reminding and confirming that no one is touching the patient, press the "Discharge" button to perform defibrillation.
4. After CPR and defibrillation, if the patient has not recovered breathing and heartbeat, continue CPR for 2 minutes and use AED for defibrillation again. Repeat CPR + AED until medical staff arrive. (For specific AED usage instructions, please follow the prompts according to the AED model)
Special Tips
1. For patients over 8 years old, adult electrodes should be used; for children under 8 years old, pediatric electrodes should be used first. If pediatric electrodes are not available, the "pediatric mode" on the defibrillator should be selected;
