When can female cats usually be bred?

Pre-estrus: 1-2 days, during which the female cat's behavior is not very obvious, she will like to meow, rub against you, and stick out her butt. Do not mate immediately during this period, as it will not ovulate if stimulated, and it is easy to fail to conceive.

Estrus period: This stage usually lasts about a week. It is the best time for mating. Female cats are more likely to accept male cats. At this time, female cats will roll around with their buttocks raised more obviously, their appetite will decrease, and they will cry loudly. If mating is successful at this time, the female cat's estrus symptoms will disappear within three days.

Can a female cat be sterilized when she is in heat?

It is best to get sterilized one week after estrus, as doing it during estrus may be dangerous.

Female cats are animals that estrus in multiple seasons. The peak estrus period is generally from February to April. Of course, they will also estrus from October to November, but certain special times are not ruled out.

It is not recommended to wait until the first estrus to take the dog for sterilization, because the estrus period basically lasts for 5 to 7 days, and after it ends, it will continue to estrus after a week.

Another thing is that it is impossible to take a cat for sterilization when it is in estrus, not to mention the preparations to be made before sterilization.

Generally, it is best to sterilize a cat before it reaches sexual maturity, that is, before it comes into estrus, which is about 6 to 7 months old. Female cats can be sterilized earlier, 4 to 6 months after birth, as early surgery can avoid reproductive diseases.

How old can a cat be bred?

The suitable age for male cats is 12 months; the suitable age for female cats is 10-12 months. Data show that breeding cats that have not reached maturity will cause great harm to their bodies. Even if the breeding is successful, the mortality rate of kittens born is very high, and the surviving kittens have very poor physical conditions. It is easy for female cats to suffer from dystocia or die after giving birth!
