Is tile falling off a problem with the tiles? What is the problem with tile falling off?

We all know that tiles are a common decoration material in life. Many homes will have tiles, especially in kitchens, balconies, bathrooms and other places. When decorating, sometimes you will encounter the problem of tiles falling off, which is a common phenomenon. So what is the matter with tiles falling off? Let's take a closer look!

What causes tiles to fall off?

There may be many reasons for wall tiles to fall off:

1. The cement mortar mix ratio for wall tile paving is unreasonable (generally 1:2~2.5, with glue added at the same time). If it is polished tile or vitrified tile, it is recommended to use special tile glue for paving, and apply adhesive on the back at the same time;

2. Cement or tile adhesive or adhesive backing materials are unqualified;

3. The slurry filling rate of the paving is unqualified, and there are hollows;

4. Wall tiles with high water absorption (especially water absorption greater than 10%) (such as ceramic tiles, glazed tiles, etc.) should be soaked in water before laying. Excessive absorption of mortar water will cause the wall tiles to become hollow.

Is tile falling off a problem with the tiles?

Not necessarily, but it could be a problem with the tiles.

In the ceramic tile area of the building materials market, there are many kinds of brand ceramic tiles, including solid tiles, vitrified tiles, glazed tiles, polished tiles, antique tiles, mosaics, etc. The materials of wall tiles and floor tiles are different. Wall tiles have a relatively high water absorption rate and the back is relatively rough. Compared with floor tiles, they are slightly thinner in specifications. These small details cannot be seen without careful observation, and there are also big differences in materials.

There are many types of floor tiles. Some tiles do not absorb water, while some have a high water absorption rate. When pasting tiles, if you do not understand the water absorption rate of the tiles, tiles with high water absorption will be pasted according to tiles with low water absorption rate, which will easily cause hollowing and falling off. When choosing to buy tiles, consult the dealer about the water absorption of the tiles, so that during construction, the workers can proceed to the next procedure according to the material of the tiles, which greatly reduces the possibility of hollowing and falling off of the tiles.

How to prevent tiles from falling off

Do not put floor tiles on the wall

Now many unscrupulous tile merchants, including designers of decoration companies, are promoting the use of floor tiles on the wall for their own selfish interests. That is, floor tiles are cut and used as wall tiles, under the guise of being beautiful, so that there is a design effect. These designers are just trying to earn more commissions. Because floor tiles of the same specifications must be much more expensive than wall tiles. Little do people know that the density of floor tiles is much greater than that of wall tiles. Not only are they less absorbent, but they are also much heavier. Therefore, if floor tiles are used on the wall, it is easy to cause the tiles to fall off.

Choose the right cement grade

During construction, the quality of cement also has an important impact on whether the wall tiles fall off. Be sure to choose the correct cement grade and the correct ratio of sand. If the sand-cement ratio is incorrect, it is also a potential factor causing the tiles to fall off.

Choose the right construction time

Many communities in the north will hand over houses in October, and many communities have no heating in the first year after handover, so the temperature is low. Many owners are eager to move in and will start decorating as soon as possible. There must be problems with the solidification of cement in winter decoration. The best solidification temperature of the water machine is about 25 degrees, so summer must be the best season for construction. If there is no heating in winter, even if glue is added, there will be a risk of falling off, not to mention that the added glue is harmful to the human body.

Worker

The factor of the worker's skill is very important. The experience of a worker determines the quality of construction. Even if the right bricks are used at the right time, without good workers, the paving will not be solid. And the main reason for hollowing is the worker's problem. The worker may not be skilled enough, or he may be lazy and use insufficient cement. So the human factor must be the most important.
