What to do if your eyesight is not up to standard when renewing your driver's license

The state stipulates that the vision required by glasses when taking a driver's license test must not be lower than 0.8. Whether you wear glasses or not, as long as you can see 0.8, you will be considered qualified. In other words, if your vision meets the standard after correction, you can continue to apply for a driver's license.

How to meet the standard if you have myopia? You can make relevant vision corrections according to whether it is true myopia or false myopia.

True myopia: Go to a regular hospital for optometry, and wear appropriate glasses to correct your vision to the standard range after testing with professional equipment. After optometry testing in a regular hospital, you can also ask the doctor to do further examination of your eyes, and then wear appropriate contact lenses to correct your vision to the standard range.

Pseudomyopia: Pseudomyopia can generally be cured after regular examination and scientific treatment. Generally, if the eyes have been injured, or in recent period, due to excessive pressure or other diseases, it will cause short-term vision to be substandard.

Physical examination standards for driver's license

1. Age: 18-70 years old;

2. Vision: For large vehicles, urban transport vehicles, medium-sized buses, tractors and other types of vehicles, the naked or corrected vision of both eyes must reach 5.0 or above on the logarithmic vision chart. For other types of vehicles, the naked or corrected vision of both eyes must reach 4.9 (i.e. 0.8 on the E chart) or above on the logarithmic vision chart, and there must be no red or green color blindness;

3. Hearing: Each ear can distinguish the direction of the sound source with a distance of 50 cm between the tuning fork;

4. Trunk and neck: no motor dysfunction.

5. Upper limbs: The thumbs of both hands are healthy, and the other three fingers of each hand must be healthy, and the motor function of the limbs and fingers is normal;

6. Lower limbs: normal motor function. For manual transmission applicants, the length of the lower limbs should not exceed 5 cm. For automatic transmission applicants, the right lower limb should be healthy.

Can I still drive if my driver's license has expired?

On the supplementary page of the motor vehicle driver's license, we can clearly see the validity period and renewal date of our driver's license. It is recommended to go through the renewal procedures when there are 3 months left before the expiration date. According to the latest "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses", the driver's license can now be renewed for up to three years.

However, once the driver's license is extended, you cannot drive a motor vehicle. Otherwise, you will be fined 2,000 yuan and detained for up to 15 days for driving without a license. So it is better to apply for a renewal in advance.

The first license is valid for 6 years; after 6 years, it can be exchanged for a 10-year license; after 10 years, it can be exchanged for a long-term valid license. The above prerequisite is that the points accumulated in each scoring cycle do not reach 12 points.
