Intermittent menstruation with scant amount of brown color

Menstruation is intermittent, the amount is very small, and there is brown color. This is actually the result of incomplete menstruation. Female friends don’t need to be too nervous when encountering such a situation. First of all, they should pay attention to their own hygiene. Generally, they will return to normal in a few days. If this kind of condition continues to occur, it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination.

Is it normal to have light, dripping, and brown discharge during menstruation?

Brown discharge after menstruation is usually the result of incomplete menstruation. If this is the case, women do not need to be particularly nervous. Generally, they can just pay attention to personal hygiene and everything will return to normal after a period of time. Generally, if there is a small amount of brown discharge after menstruation and the menstruation is not complete, it is mostly caused by irregular menstruation due to medication, uterine diseases, gynecological inflammation, or endocrine disorders caused by environmental or neurological factors.

If there is brown discharge after menstruation, and it is intermittent. This may be considered as luteal insufficiency, which refers to insufficient progesterone secretion by the corpus luteum to support the full development of the secretory endometrium. Other problems include luteal atrophy, endometrial inflammation, polyps, and so on. In addition, black blood after menstruation may be due to the small amount of bleeding at this time, poor menstrual blood discharge, and long accumulation time in the uterus. It is also necessary to consider whether it is caused by cervical erosion.

It is recommended that when you find the above situation, you should go to the hospital for examination in time and then receive symptomatic treatment. A woman's normal menstrual cycle is 28-30 days, with each period lasting 3-7 days. If there is menstrual blood or brown discharge for more than 7 days, it is considered an extended period, which is an abnormal phenomenon. If the menstrual period is prolonged and accompanied by heavy menstrual bleeding, and lasts for more than half a month, it may be metrorrhagia, and you should seek medical attention as soon as possible. Menstruation is caused by fluctuations in estrogen levels. When estrogen levels rise, the endometrium proliferates; when estrogen levels fall, the endometrium is shed and menstruation occurs. If the estrogen level does not rise enough, the endometrium can only be partially repaired, resulting in irregular menstruation and brown discharge.

Causes of irregular menstruation

1. Irregular work and rest schedule. With the rapid development of society, many women often stay up late or even reverse their day and night due to the influence of life or work. This bad habit can easily lead to endocrine disorders and cause irregular menstruation.

2. Excessive weight loss. In pursuit of beauty, many women lose weight without restraint or exercise excessively, which will lead to the body not consuming enough protein and fat, thus affecting the normal synthesis of estrogen in the body, resulting in too little menstrual flow or amenorrhea.

3. Emotional factors. If a woman is in depression, anxiety or great mental stress for a long time, the function of the hypothalamus in the body will be damaged, making it impossible for the ovaries to secrete hormones and ovulate normally, which can easily lead to irregular menstruation.

4. Abortion surgery. Multiple abortions can easily cause a woman’s endometrium to become thinner, making uterine damage difficult to repair, and even causing menstrual irregularities, amenorrhea, and infertility. Therefore, women should take good care of themselves and not have abortions easily, otherwise the harm will be very great.

5. Uterine fibroids. Generally, women with uterine fibroids usually experience irregular menstruation, which is mainly manifested by heavy menstrual flow, excessively long menstrual periods, etc., and the severity of uterine fibroids will affect the occurrence of symptoms.

6. Influence of IUD. The IUD is a foreign body outside the body that can irritate the female endometrium, leading to irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, etc.
