Does a urinary tract infection cause itching?

The female urethra is shorter than the male urethra and is located lower and closer to the anus, making it very easy to cause urethral infection. After a urinary tract infection occurs, there will be symptoms such as urinary pain and urethral itching. You must pay attention to the hygiene of your private parts and drink plenty of water. Drinking water can promote urination and flush the urethra. The following introduces the relevant symptoms and causes of female urinary tract infection. Let’s take a look.

1. Will urinary tract infection cause vaginal itching?

Vaginal itching in women is very common, but treatment of these problems cannot be ignored, because there are many reproductive diseases that can show symptoms of vaginal itching, such as pubic lice, nematode infection, urinary tract infection, or not paying attention to local cleanliness and hygiene and drug allergies, all of which may cause itching. Pubic lice: Pubic lice often stick to the surface of the skin or attach to the roots of pubic hair. Pubic lice eggs are grayish white and the size of a pinhead. The bites of pubic lice and their venom and excrement can cause itching and desquamation of the skin, and may lead to eczema-like changes and folliculitis.

2. Causes of urinary tract infection

More than 95% of urinary tract infections are caused by a single bacteria. Among them, 90% of outpatients and about 50% of inpatients are caused by Escherichia coli, which can be classified into 140 types of serotypes. The urinary infection-causing Escherichia coli is of the same type as the Escherichia coli isolated from the patient's feces, and is often seen in asymptomatic bacteriuria or uncomplicated urinary infection; Proteus, Clostridium difficile, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and fecal Streptococcus are seen in patients with reinfection, indwelling catheters, and urinary tract infections with complications; Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans infections are often seen in patients with diabetes and those using glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants and after kidney transplantation; Staphylococcus aureus is often seen in bacteremia and sepsis caused by skin trauma and drug addicts; although viral and mycoplasma infections are rare, they have tended to increase in recent years. Various bacterial infections are seen in indwelling catheters, neurogenic bladder, stones, congenital malformations, and vaginal, intestinal, and urethral fistulas.

3. Clinical manifestations of urinary tract infection

Acute simple cystitis has a sudden onset and is often related to sexual activity in female patients. The main manifestations are bladder irritation symptoms, namely frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating, discomfort in the bladder area or perineum, and a burning sensation in the urethra; the degree of urinary frequency varies, and in severe cases, urge urinary incontinence may occur; the urine is turbid, there are white blood cells in the urine, terminal hematuria is common, and sometimes it is hematuria throughout the process, and even blood clots are discharged. Generally there are no obvious systemic infection symptoms, and the body temperature is normal or there is a low fever.

How to relieve urinary tract infection

1. Drink more water. Urinary tract infection will be difficult to cure if you drink less water, and the longer it lasts, the more troublesome it will be. If it turns into chronic urinary tract infection or nephritis, it will be a big problem. Drink plenty of water, especially immediately after urinating.

2. Light diet: If you have urinary tract infection, you should ensure a light diet. Do not eat greasy and spicy foods, fried nuts and snacks, etc.; take medicine on time: it is recommended to take some anti-inflammatory drugs; eat more fruits with high water content: watermelon is the first choice, watermelon is basically water, eating more watermelon can help urination. And frequent urination will help urinary tract infections heal faster. Pears are also a good fruit, and they are very effective in clearing heat. Don't eat certain hot fruits as they can easily cause you to get angry.

3. Pay attention to rest: get more rest, go to bed early and don’t stay up late, don’t be too active, and focus on resting. Excessive fatigue can cause urinary tract infection to last too long. If the delay is longer, it is more likely to become chronic; change underwear frequently: when you are infected, you should change clothes more often, otherwise the infection will worsen.
