What is the cause of the enlarged uterus?

We all know that the embryo develops and grows inside the uterus. As the fetus develops during pregnancy, the pregnant woman's abdomen will gradually bulge, and the pressure on the uterus will become greater and greater. Therefore, the cervix of women who have given birth will be larger, and the more times they give birth, the larger the opening will gradually become. Of course, this is not the only reason for an enlarged uterine opening. Ovarian dysfunction and gynecological inflammation may also cause this condition.

First, if the uterus of a woman who has given birth many times is not fully restored, the elastic fiber tissue inside the uterine muscle layer will proliferate around the blood vessels, which will lead to uterine hypertrophy;

Second, ovarian dysfunction, such as long-term estrogen stimulation, can also cause the thickening of the uterine myometrium. Some patients with functional uterine bleeding in clinical practice, especially those with a long illness, have varying degrees of symptoms of enlarged uterine cervix;

Third, most cases of enlarged cervix are caused by inflammation, such as chronic adnexitis and chronic myositis of the uterus, which can lead to the proliferation of collagen fibers inside the myometrium of the uterus, causing enlarged cervix after uterine fibrosis.

Fourth, pelvic congestion can cause hyperplasia of uterine connective tissue, which is also an answer to why the cervix is enlarged.

Fifth, some primary uterine vascular diseases will cause vascular sclerosis of the uterine myometrium and lead to enlargement of the cervix.

In the face of an enlarged cervix, medication can be used for treatment, because the medication can increase the tension of the uterine tube, but the medication is not effective in all situations, so you need to understand it before using it. Another way to treat an enlarged cervix is surgery, which can be treated through cerclage. The surgery will strengthen the weak cervix through suturing, but if the patient is an expectant mother in the middle or late stages of pregnancy, then conservative methods must be adopted for treatment.
