Pregnant women perineum massage to avoid episiotomy

Some methods used by pregnant mothers abroad are still worth recommending. Some pregnant women have perineal massage in late pregnancy, usually around 32 weeks. The purpose of doing this is not only to increase the flexibility of the muscles, but also to make the muscles more elastic. In order to better help our Chinese pregnant mothers to give birth smoothly, we must understand the steps of perineal massage.

Be prepared for pregnancy

Trim your nails, wash your hands, and sit in a warm, comfortable area with your legs stretched out in a semi-sitting birthing position. Place a mirror in front of your perineum, facing the perineum. This way you can clearly see the condition of the muscle tissue around the perineum. Choose some massage oil, such as pure canola oil, or a water-soluble lubricant, and use your thumbs and fingers to apply the massage oil around the perineum. Insert your thumb as deep as possible into your vagina and stretch your legs. Press the perineal tissue toward the rectum. Gently continue stretching the perineum until you feel a slight burning or tingling sensation. Maintain this stretch until the tingling sensation subsides, then continue to gently massage your vagina in a back-and-forth motion. During the massage, hook your thumb inside the vagina and slowly stretch the vaginal tissue forward, which is how the baby's head will come out during delivery. Finally, gently massage the muscle tissue between your thumb and index finger back and forth for about 1 minute.

Notice :

Exerting too much force can cause bruising and stinging in the sensitive skin of the perineum. Avoid applying pressure to the urethra during massage, as this can lead to infection and inflammation. Tighten the muscles of the vagina and anus, do it about 200 times a day, each time for 8-10 seconds. You can also try contracting your muscles and pausing for a moment while you urinate.

It can help you stop leaking urine when you sneeze or cough. Well-toned muscles make childbirth easier and the perineum remains intact (less tears and less chance of an episiotomy). It also helps two people enjoy the sweetness of sex. Because it prevents prolapse and aging of the pelvic organs.
