Pregnant woman's belly massage technique

Pregnant woman's belly massage technique

Pregnant women belong to a special group of people. Since they are carrying babies in their bellies, they should pay special attention to their daily lives and avoid bumps and strenuous exercise, etc., so as to avoid fetal movement and placental instability, or even miscarriage. If pregnant women have stomach discomfort during pregnancy, they can relieve it by massaging their stomachs. Here are some specific methods of massaging the stomachs of pregnant women.

Massage techniques:

1. Caress back and forth

The pregnant woman lies on the bed, and when her abdomen is completely relaxed, she strokes her abdomen back and forth from top to bottom and from left to right with her hands. Her heart should be filled with joy and happiness. However, the stroking should be light and the time should not be too long. Using this back and forth stroking technique can help pregnant women enter the massage state earlier.

2. Touch, press and tap

Method: When the pregnant woman uses the back and forth massage technique to enter the massage state, and then gently do some pressing and patting movements to give the fetus tactile stimulation. Generally, if you persist for a few weeks, the fetus will respond.

Note: Be gentle when patting, and pay attention to the fetus's reaction. If you find the fetus struggling or kicking, it means he does not like this action and you should stop immediately.

3. Promote walking

The pregnant woman lies on the bed and uses the back and forth massaging technique to enter the massage state, pressing and patting the abdomen. If the fetus's head, back and limbs can be clearly touched on the abdomen, the fetus can be gently pushed with the hands to let the fetus "take a walk and do exercises" in the womb.

Note: If this exercise is not done properly, it can cause abdominal pain, uterine contraction, and even premature birth, so it should be performed under the guidance of a doctor. The movements must be gentle and natural, with even and appropriate force, and avoid being rough.

But you can't touch your belly in four situations!

Case 1: Don’t touch your belly if you have placenta previa

Umbilical cord around the neck often occurs in the early and middle stages of pregnancy. During this stage, the umbilical cord is long and the space is large. When the fetus moves, it is very likely that the umbilical cord will be wrapped around the neck one or two times. Some people will automatically return to normal, and it has nothing to do with whether the belly is touched or how the touching technique is used. However, doctors do not recommend that expectant mothers touch their bellies frequently, especially in the late stages of pregnancy, as this can easily stimulate uterine contractions and cause premature birth. In particular, expectant mothers with placenta previa, signs of premature birth, or frequent fetal movements should not stimulate their bellies frequently.

Situation 2: Don’t touch your belly in late pregnancy

Many expectant mothers in the late stages of pregnancy like to stroke their bellies to communicate with their babies, but frequent belly stroking in the late stages can easily stimulate the uterus and cause false labor. If the technique is inappropriate or the frequency is too high, it may indeed cause premature birth.

Situation 3: Don’t touch your belly if there are signs of premature birth

Experts point out that expectant mothers with placenta previa, signs of premature birth or frequent fetal movements should avoid stimulating their stomachs frequently to avoid danger.

It is common to see expectant mothers leaning back with their hands on their waists, or walking while touching their bellies. In fact, these are incorrect behavioral habits. Leaning back can easily induce back pain and lumbar muscle strain, and frequently touching the big belly can easily induce uterine contractions and premature birth. It is best to stand and walk in a way that is comfortable and natural for the expectant mother.

Situation 4: Do not touch your belly if the fetus is moving frequently

Tactile prenatal education is the earliest communication between prospective parents and their baby. Appropriate touching and patting can strengthen the emotional communication and connection between mother and baby, and can also exercise the baby's tactile and motor nerves. However, it is best for expectant parents to do touch-therapy prenatal education under the guidance of a doctor to avoid improper or excessive force. Each massage should not be too long, about 5 to 10 minutes is enough. If you feel frequent fetal movements, you should stop.
