What is pseudo-condyloma acuminatum in women?

For married women who have more sex, they should pay more attention to the care of their private parts. Many women are familiar with genital warts. There are many types of warts, and pseudo-condyloma acuminatum of the vulva is the most common one. It mainly occurs in young women. Not paying attention to the hygiene of the private parts may also lead to this situation. Let's learn about pseudo-condyloma acuminatum of the vulva.

Symptoms

Vulvar pseudocondyloma is a polyp-like red papule or villous protrusion that occurs on the female vulva. It is also known as vulvar papillary hirsutism, villous labia minora, and vulvar hairy papilloma. It mostly occurs in women aged 20-30. The cause may be physiological abnormalities or may be related to infection, such as Candida infection, urinary tract infection, and long-term vaginal secretion stimulation. The main symptoms are vulvar itching and excessive leucorrhea. Skin lesions appear as clusters of mucosal-colored or pink, fish-egg-like smooth papules that do not fuse with each other, are symmetrically distributed, and are of uniform size. A few are nipple-like or villous protrusions that feel sandy to the touch. They are densely distributed in sheets or strips on the inner side of the labia majora and minora, and are occasionally seen in the vagina and urethral opening.

Vulvar pseudocondyloma is called vulvar papillary hirsutism, and is also called vulvar condyloma acuminatum-like papules. Pseudocondyloma acuminatum is a new disease. Pseudo-condylomata is more common in young women, and can occur in both unmarried and married women; the age of onset is mainly 18 to 41 years old, and the incidence rate is 16% to 18%. The clinical manifestations are 1-2 mm papules, light red, clustered and not fused; they are smooth, roe-like or villous in shape, and feel granular to the touch; they are distributed on the inner side of the labia minora or the vestibule of the vagina. Generally there are no subjective symptoms or only mild itching, which can be easily confused with genital warts clinically.

Possible analysis

Pseudocondylomata requires diagnosis by a doctor. It may be related to Candida albicans or Trichomonas infection, chronic inflammatory stimulation, mechanical friction during sexual intercourse, or it may be a physiological variation of the mucosa. If it is caused by irritation of secretions or inflammation (such as excessive leucorrhea), find out the cause. Treat symptomatically. If it is a developmental abnormality (physiological variation of the genital mucosa), no treatment is required. Pseudo-condylomata has no adverse consequences and no impact on health. It affects lovemaking.

Cause Analysis

Vulvar pseudocondyloma is a benign papilloma whose cause remains unclear. Some scholars believe that it is caused by HPV infection. Chen Lezhen et al. conducted HPV DNA testing on pseudo-condyloma acuminata and the results showed that pseudo-condyloma acuminata was not related to HPV infection. Lin Hanliang et al. used a broad-spectrum human papillomavirus DNA probe to perform nucleic acid in situ hybridization on two groups of cases diagnosed as genital warts and pseudo-condylomata acuminata by macroscopic morphology, histological features and human papillomavirus nucleocapsid antigen (HPV-Ag). The results showed that the HPV DNA detection rate in the genital warts group was 90.9% (30/33), while the detection rate in the pseudo-condylomata group was only 2.6% (1/38), indicating that pseudo-condylomata acuminata is not caused by HPV infection, or the possibility of HPV infection is very small.

However, there are also data showing that the HPV infection rate of pseudocondyloma acuminatum is 40.4%, which needs further research. In addition, some scholars believe that pseudo-condyloma acuminatum is caused by local long-term chronic inflammatory stimulation. Some scholars also believe that Candida infection may be related to the occurrence of this disease. Some scholars have observed that the disease worsens during pregnancy and improves after delivery, and believe that it is related to hormone levels in the body. However, some scholars emphasize that this is an anatomical variation, a physiological abnormality like the pearly papules on the male penis, and an atavistic deformity.
