What to eat when you have a headache during your period?

Every woman's body will become weaker during her menstrual period. As the blood stasis in the uterus flows out of the body, this can easily cause physical fatigue and weakness. Many women will experience dizziness during their menstrual period, which is very distressing for women. Headaches during menstruation can be treated through diet.

Headaches of varying degrees, sometimes mild, sometimes severe, occur before, after, or during menstruation, and disappear on their own after the menstruation is over. This is called menstrual headache, which is more common in middle-aged women.

Headache during menstruation is often accompanied by other symptoms, some with dizziness, dark eyes and stuffy heart; some with irritability and insomnia; some with emotional instability and fatigue. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that according to different concurrent symptoms, it can be divided into three syndromes: blood stasis blocking the collaterals, hyperactivity of liver yang, and deficiency of qi and blood.

People with blood stasis can eat foods that have a blood-activating effect, such as hawthorn. People with Yang hyperactivity type can eat foods that have heat-clearing effects, such as celery. People with weak constitution can eat some tonic foods, such as longan. This is called dialectical use of medicine. Generally speaking, people with weak qi and blood should eat more nutritious foods that strengthen the spleen and replenish qi, such as meat, eggs, longan, red dates, yam, lentils, etc.

People with Yin deficiency and Yang hyperactivity should eat more foods that clear the liver and suppress Yang, nourish Yin and tonify the kidney, such as celery, wolfberry, mung bean, etc. It is best not to eat tobacco, alcohol, strong tea, and hot foods such as cinnamon, pork head, salted fish, ham, chocolate, crabs, shrimps, coffee, etc.

Control your diet: Eat more foods that help relieve hormonal effects before and after menstruation, such as milk, fruits, vegetables, oats, oysters, etc.

Drinking sweet drinks: Sugar can quickly increase the body's blood sugar content, while drinking water can increase the body's blood volume and improve brain ischemia. Therefore, when you are in pain, giving yourself a glass of sweet milk or juice can help relieve headaches caused by cerebral vasodilation and nerve compression.

In terms of diet, you should eat more warm foods, such as beef, mutton, etc., eat less cold foods, and avoid cold drinks. Wash your feet with hot water every day to prevent "cold starting from the feet". Remember not to eat raw, cold, sour or spicy food
