What is the difference between uterine contractions and fetal movements?

What is the difference between uterine contractions and fetal movements?

After nine months of pregnancy, the fetus will also experience fetal movements in the mother's belly. Therefore, it is normal for pregnant women to feel sudden pain in their stomach sometimes, but some people cannot distinguish it from uterine contractions. Let’s talk about this below.

The difference between fetal movement and uterine contraction in late pregnancy

Many mothers experience fetal movement in the late stages of pregnancy. Sometimes, mothers cannot tell whether it is fetal movement or uterine contractions, so they become nervous, worrying that if it is uterine contractions, it may be a sign of miscarriage. In the late pregnancy, the abdomen will feel bloated or tight when the fetus moves. This feeling is local, and the entire abdomen does not feel bloated.

However, if the pregnant woman feels bloating in the entire abdomen and this feeling comes and goes, then it is most likely uterine contractions rather than fetal movements in the late pregnancy. If the number of uterine contractions is too many, the pregnant woman needs to go to the hospital for examination in time.

Is it normal to have decreased fetal movement in late pregnancy?

Some pregnant women will find that fetal movements in the late pregnancy are less than before, and they are very worried whether the baby is developing abnormally or if there are any problems. Starting from the seventh month of pregnancy, fetal movements in the late pregnancy will be less than before, but mothers should pay attention to the number of fetal movements. If the number of fetal movements in the late pregnancy decreases too much, it is abnormal and you need to go to the hospital for fetal heart monitoring.
