Generally, women who give birth naturally need episiotomy. If you want the episiotomy wound to heal faster, you must take good care of it. It is important to keep the wound clean. You should also pay attention to the lying position to prevent the wound from tearing. You should also eat a light diet. More importantly, you should not have sex until the wound has healed. 1. Keep the perineal wound clean Rinse the perineum with 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution once a day, in the morning and evening. It has bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Be careful not to allow the liquid to enter the vagina when flushing. You should also flush after each bowel movement. Change sanitary pads frequently. If the wound is soaked in a wet sanitary pad, it is easy to get infected and affect the healing process. 2. Pay attention to lying position Lie on the side opposite to the wound (for example, if the wound is on the left side of the perineum, the mother should lie on the right side) to keep the wound high, thereby preventing lochia from soaking the wound and promoting wound healing. After 4-5 days, when the wound has grown more firmly and lochia is difficult to flow out, you can adopt a left-right alternating lying position. 3. Prevent wound dehiscence Pay attention to keeping bowel movements smooth. If constipation occurs, do not hold your breath or exert force to avoid expansion of the perineum and wound dehiscence. Avoid squatting for the first 2 to 3 days after stitches are removed. The bed should not be too high so that you can get out of bed at any time to avoid the wound being misaligned due to your legs touching the ground first. When defecating, first contract the perineum and buttocks, then sit on the toilet to effectively avoid wound dehiscence. When sitting, shift the center of gravity to the right to reduce pressure on the wound and reduce pain or wound dehiscence. 4. Pay attention to your diet You should maintain a light diet, avoid spicy food, smoking and drinking, and avoid eating irritating foods that may worsen wound swelling. After delivery, you should eat more high-fiber foods, drink more water, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, drink more fish soup and pig's trotter soup, do not eat too much meat, spicy and stimulating foods, and foods that are difficult to digest, etc., to avoid constipation and affect wound healing. 5. Avoid sexual intercourse Do not have sexual intercourse before the episiotomy wound is completely healed. On the one hand, it puts pressure on the wound, which is not conducive to its healing. On the other hand, sexual stimulation will aggravate the pain. It is best to avoid sexual intercourse within 6 weeks after delivery. 6. Strengthen observation. If the wound shows the following conditions, seek medical attention immediately: 1. Wound hematoma: The wound appears swollen and fluctuates when touched; 2. Wound infection: symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat and pain appear locally in the wound, sometimes accompanied by nodules, and purulent secretions when squeezed; 3. Wound rupture: If the wound ruptures after the stitches are removed, seek medical attention immediately. |
