What are the symptoms and treatment of endometritis?

Women should be familiar with the disease of endometritis. Although many people know that it is a female disease, many women are still not clear about the symptoms of endometritis. This disease is particularly harmful to women's health, so it is very necessary for every woman to learn more about it so that they can detect it early and treat it early. The following will introduce to you the symptoms and treatments of endometritis.

1. Symptoms of endometritis

1. Patients may have mild fever and distension and pain in the lower abdomen, which are usually persistent. Menorrhagia: The menstrual period is still regular, but the menstrual volume doubles and the bleeding period is also significantly prolonged. Only a very small number of patients develop anemia due to heavy bleeding, which may be caused by endometrial thickening and inflammatory congestion. Irregular bleeding is rare, and sometimes bleeding may last for several hours or 1-2 days and then stop.

2. The amount of leucorrhea increases significantly and may be purulent, have a foul odor, or be bloody. Acute endometritis occurring in the puerperium often results in profuse lochia with a foul odor, which is usually caused by infection with Escherichia coli and anaerobic bacteria. If it is caused by infection with hemolytic streptococci or Staphylococcus aureus, the amount of lochia is generally small and there is no obvious odor, but it is easy to spread through the lymphatic system.

3. During the gynecological examination, there was purulent leucorrhea at the cervical opening, cervical pain, and mild tenderness in the uterine body. Laboratory examination showed increased white blood cell count and neutrophilia.

2. How to treat endometritis

In addition to the main use of antibiotics in the treatment of endometritis, obvious causes must be eliminated, such as removing the intrauterine contraceptive device, clearing residual placental tissue and endometrial polyps in the uterine cavity, etc. If there are submucosal uterine fibroids or endometrial cancer, appropriate treatment should be given according to the situation. Patients with uterine cavity pyometra should have their cervix dilated to facilitate drainage of the pus. After the inflammation is under control, a diagnostic curettage is performed to rule out early uterine cancer to avoid mistaking early cancer for inflammation and delaying treatment. Physical therapy may sometimes be considered for chronic cases.

The above is an introduction to the symptoms and treatments of endometritis. Endometritis is very harmful to women. If women find themselves having the symptoms described above, they need to pay more attention and seek medical attention immediately. After diagnosis, they should follow the doctor's advice and take the most beneficial treatment method for the condition and carry out relevant treatment.
