Picture of fetus kicking belly

Being a mother is not easy. You have to endure a lot of pain during the ten months of pregnancy. In the later stages of pregnancy, many pregnant women suffer from insomnia all night. Just as they fall asleep, the baby in their belly kicks them awake, which is very painful. Over time, the pregnant woman's body will not be able to bear it. In fact, the fetus kicking the abdomen violently indicates that the fetus has significant fetal movement, which should be a good thing. However, if the kicking is so strong, it is inevitable to be worrying. So what is the fetus doing when it kicks the abdomen violently?

1. During digestion and absorption of nutrients.

In the late stages of pregnancy, many pregnant women experience leg cramps. The fetus needs to absorb more nutrients in the late stages of pregnancy, and leg cramps are the result of the fetus competing with the mother for nutrients. The fetus kicks the abdomen violently, which may be absorbing the mother's nutrients. The nutrients supplemented by the mother are not consumed by herself, but are absorbed by the fetus, which will cause leg cramps.

2. The baby is growing.

As the number of weeks of pregnancy increases, the fetus's body becomes larger and larger. The narrow uterus can no longer bear the baby's gradually growing body. He needs to continue to expand his body, so he will flex and stretch his body everywhere. When the baby moves, there will be obvious fetal movements. In fact, this is the baby telling you that he has grown up.

3. Daily activities.

When the baby is growing and developing, it is necessary to move the arms and legs anytime and anywhere. Since the baby is curled up for a long time, it will affect his development if he does not move. In the late pregnancy, the fetus sometimes kicks the mother's belly to show its strength.

4. The baby is playing with the umbilical cord.

The uterus is a dark area with only an umbilical cord used to deliver nutrients to the fetus. When the fetus reaches the middle and late stages of development, the brain begins to have the concept of movement, and the fetus likes to play with anything it can find in its hands. However, there is only one umbilical cord in the uterus, so the fetus will play with the umbilical cord. However, when playing, the fetal umbilical cord will be pulled hard, and the umbilical cord will be accidentally wrapped around the fetus' neck. If the fetus has abnormal fetal movements, the expectant mother must pay attention to it, and it is best to go for a check-up to prevent the umbilical cord from being wrapped around the neck and causing fetal intrauterine hypoxia.
