Why does the amount of vaginal discharge increase after ovulation?

I believe that most women are familiar with leucorrhea, so is it normal to have leucorrhea? First of all, we need to know what leucorrhea is. In fact, leucorrhea is the secretion discharged from the vagina. Under normal circumstances, the amount is very small, but many patients have experienced increased vaginal discharge, so they are very worried and don’t know whether it is normal. Below we ask experts to give some advice on this issue.

Therefore, normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell; its secretion amount and texture are affected by the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and vary periodically with the menstrual cycle, with varying amounts, textures and thicknesses.

Generally, the amount of leucorrhea is small after the menstrual period; before ovulation, due to the increase in estrogen levels in the body, the epithelial cells of the cervical glands proliferate, the secretion of cervical mucus increases, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus increases, which can absorb more water, causing the amount of leucorrhea to increase during ovulation, and the texture is thin, clear, and looks like egg white, which can be stretched into long threads; therefore, the amount of leucorrhea is very small when the menstruation just ends, but as time goes by, the amount will gradually increase, and the texture will become thinner and thinner, and it will increase during ovulation.

This situation occurs after ovulation because the female estrogen level gradually decreases, resulting in a decrease in sodium chloride in the mucus and thickening of the leucorrhea. Therefore, this is a normal phenomenon. As long as you pay more attention to hygiene in this regard, there will be no problems. Here we also remind everyone not to be too sensitive or worry about this issue.
