August 25 this year is the fifth National Disability Prevention Day, with the theme of "Strengthening Disability Prevention and Promoting Health for All". Organizing and carrying out Disability Prevention Day publicity and education activities is of great significance for making a good start in promoting the "14th Five-Year Plan" disability prevention work. In the context of epidemic prevention and control, most children have reduced their outings, and a small number of children need to be isolated at home. In this regard, parents should do a good job in primary disability prevention for children at home, and pay attention to safety protection and psychological protection. In terms of the two major areas of safety and psychology, this issue of science popularization gives parents some suggestions. Possible safety issues for children and prevention plans 01Preventing burns and scalds According to statistics, 90% of children's burns occur at home, and the main reasons are three aspects: first, improper placement of heat sources, such as thermos, kettles, hot dishes, stoves, etc.; second, improper protection of electrical power supplies, such as children getting injured by playing with household appliances or touching electrical sockets; third, adults lack vigilance and neglect to provide care. Parents can do this: Do not place thermos bottles or other utensils on the floor at home; Parents should keep away from children when holding hot objects; Do not allow children to play in areas such as the kitchen. 02Prevent falls Children of different ages have different growth, development and cognitive levels. Children aged 1-3 have weaker motor and balance abilities and are prone to stumbling and falling from stairs, steps, walkers, furniture or game equipment. Children aged 5-9 are just beginning to move around on their own, their cognitive abilities are not yet fully developed, and their ability to control their own behavior is limited. Even if they know there is danger, it is difficult for them to avoid it. Children have a strong curiosity and desire to explore, especially boys, whose rate of stumbling and falling is more than twice that of girls. Parents can do this: The damage from a fall is not completely proportional to the height, so be careful of falling from low places; Do not place objects under windows or on balconies that children can climb on; Try to install windows in your home that cannot be fully opened. 03Prevent accidental ingestion of medication In recent years, whether from media reports or cases around us, we often hear about children taking medicine by mistake, and some even have serious consequences. So how can parents properly manage the medicines in the home to prevent children from taking them by mistake? Parents can do this: Keep medicines out of children's reach; Keep children's medicines separate from adult medicines; Clean up your medications regularly. Possible psychological problems in children and prevention plans 01 Unable to make a scientific judgment on the epidemic, catastrophic imagination During the epidemic, the media reports a lot of news, which makes children feel nervous and panic. In this case, their anxiety and fear may be manifested through abnormal behavior, or they may suddenly become timid. Parents can do this: Do not pass on negative emotions such as anxiety and fear to your children. Be calm and composed so that your children can get more relaxation information. Guide children on how to properly protect themselves and reduce anxiety; Listen patiently, accompany your children, and give them enough sense of security. 02Extended vacation leads to poor parent-child communication and relationship imbalance The epidemic happened during the summer vacation, and children who were quarantined at home and went out less often spent more time with their parents. If children had problems with their studies or their schedules, they would talk inappropriately with their parents and fail to understand each other, which would lead to fierce arguments and deepen the conflict. Parents can do this: Parents should manage their own emotions Accept your own negative emotions, think from other people's perspectives, live with a positive attitude, fill your life with positive energy, and bring warmth and confidence to your children. Relax the whole family through regular life Provide children with electronic products in a reasonable manner and establish a regular schedule that includes time for children to study, time for adequate sleep, time for entertainment and time for home exercise. Don't make the schedule too detailed and give children time for freedom and autonomy. Provide a variety of family entertainment activities Play parent-child games, play with toys, read picture books, and lead children to do spring cleaning to establish a sense of labor. When children's lives are occupied by rich family entertainment, it will enhance family harmony and happiness.
