Which mountain range on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau does the Yangtze River originate from? Why can't water be boiled on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau?

The wind on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is usually very strong when it is windy. The main reason is the high altitude and little vegetation. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has little precipitation because of the high altitude, which makes it difficult for water vapor to form convective rain and frontal rain. The air is thin, transparent, with strong solar radiation, long sunshine, and many sunny days. There are continuous snow-capped mountains and glaciers. The altitude is high, the temperature is low, the winter is cold and the summer is cool, and the frost-free period is short. The atmospheric pressure is low, so usually we can't even boil water to 100 degrees Celsius, and the rice is relatively not cooked thoroughly, but smart people have magic to deal with these small problems. Let's take a look!

Why is there strong wind and little precipitation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau?

The reason why the wind is strong on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is that it is at a high altitude and has little vegetation. The reason why the precipitation is scarce on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is that it is at a high altitude and it is difficult for water vapor to form convective rain and frontal rain.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in my country has a unique alpine climate due to its high terrain. Its characteristics are:

1. High altitude, low temperature, cold winter and cool summer, and short frost-free period.

2. The air is thin, with good transparency, strong solar radiation, long sunshine and many sunny days.

3. There is a large temperature difference between day and night.

4. The precipitation is small, but the temperature is low and the evaporation is weak.

5. Snow-capped mountains are continuous and glaciers are crisscrossed.

6. Strong sunshine and abundant solar energy.

Why can't water be boiled on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau?

The reason why water cannot be boiled on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is that the air pressure there is too low.

In fact, water can be boiled on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, but its boiling point is often less than 80 degrees Celsius, so it is said to be "not boiling".

When we say boiling water is 100 degrees Celsius, it means that the liquid surface is at a standard atmospheric pressure.

The Yangtze River originates from which mountain range on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Tanggula Mountains. The Yangtze River was formed during the Yanshan Movement in the Jurassic period 140 million years ago. The Tanggula Mountains were formed in the Yangtze River, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was slowly raised, forming many high mountains, deep valleys, depressions and rift valleys. The Dabie Mountains in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Wushan Mountains between Sichuan and Hubei rose, the Sichuan Basin sank, and the ancient Mediterranean retreated further to the west.

In the Cretaceous period 100 million years ago, the Sichuan Basin slowly rose. The leveling process continued to develop, and the Yunmeng and Dongting Basins continued to sink. In the Eocene 30-40 million years ago, there was a strong Himalayan movement, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau rose, the ancient Mediterranean disappeared, and the Yangtze River Basin generally rose intermittently. The degree of its rise was gentle in the east and rapid in the west. Mountains rose on both sides of the Jinsha River, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau rose significantly, and some fault basins were formed.

The strong downcutting of the river has resulted in many deep and steep canyons. The water systems that originally flowed from north to south merged and turned eastward. The middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River rose slightly, forming medium and low mountains and hills, and the low-lying areas sank into plains (such as the Lianghu Plain, Nanxiang Plain, Duyang Plain, and Su-Wan Plain). 3 million years ago, the Himalayas rose strongly, and the western part of the Yangtze River Basin was further raised. The ancient Yangtze River, which stretched from Hubei to the four basins, accelerated its upstream erosion, cutting through Wushan Mountain and connecting the east and west ancient Yangtze Rivers.
