What should I pay attention to after intrauterine medication

Intrauterine medication is a drug treatment method for various diseases such as the cervix and uterus. Before intrauterine medication, the vagina should be cleaned and kept clean, and then the corresponding drugs should be inserted for treatment. Usually the medication is applied at night to prevent the medication from leaking out and to allow the medication to fully contact the affected area. After applying the medicine into the uterine cavity, you must be careful not to have sexual intercourse and do not apply the medicine during menstruation.

Classification of uterine cavity diseases

1. Cervical erosion: It is the most common manifestation of chronic cervicitis. It is caused by the invasion of pathogens due to damage to the cervix during childbirth, miscarriage, postpartum infection, surgical operation or sexual intercourse.

2. Cervical polyps: They are formed when the cervical mucosa locally proliferates under the stimulation of inflammation and protrudes outward from the external os of the cervix. There may be no subjective symptoms or only increased vaginal discharge. Many patients are discovered during general surveys or gynecological examinations due to other diseases.

3. Cervical hypertrophy: Simple cervical hypertrophy generally does not affect pregnancy, but severe cases can cause endometritis, salpingo-oophoritis, fallopian tube adhesions and blockage, leading to infertility.

4. Cervical cyst: Small cervical cysts do not need to be treated if there is no discomfort. If the cyst enlarges or becomes infected, it can be treated with microwaves or laser irradiation.

What should I pay attention to after intrauterine medication

1 During the period of suppository, keep the vulva clean and dry, wear cotton breathable underwear, and change it daily. If it is trichomoniasis, candidal vaginitis, etc., not only should the couple treat it together, but they should also pay attention to disinfecting their underwear every day.

2 Generally, vaginal suppositories are used at night so that the drug can fully decompose during sleep and act directly on the local area. If used during the day, the drug will easily flow out of the vagina, which will not only contaminate the underwear, but also prevent the drug from fully contacting the lesion area.

3 Be sure to persist in treatment. If you are taking suppositories due to vaginitis or cervicitis, you should strive for a complete cure. After treatment, you should still follow the doctor's advice to go to the hospital for a follow-up check. You cannot stop the treatment just because the symptoms have eased. If it is not completely cured, it will easily relapse, and the bacteria will become resistant to the drugs, affecting the efficacy.

4 For patients with excessive leucorrhea, directly inserting the medicine will affect the efficacy, so it is recommended to flush first to reduce the secretions before inserting the medicine. But this flushing is best done in a hospital.

5. Some suppositories come with tampons, which should be removed promptly and not left in for too long.

It is best not to have sexual intercourse during the 6-drug treatment period and stop taking suppositories during menstruation.
