How should vaginal lacerations during childbirth be treated?

It is a very painful process for women to get pregnant and give birth. There will be many discomfort symptoms during pregnancy, and the process of childbirth is the greatest harm to women. If you choose to give birth naturally, the female vagina will become loose, and the vulva may even be torn, which may leave obvious wounds. In order to avoid wound infection, you must take good care of your genitals at this time. In addition, you can take the following treatment methods.

Treatment of vaginal tear:

When the fetal head is about to be delivered, one important thing that medical staff must pay attention to during the delivery process is to protect the perineum. If medical staff believe that the mother is at risk of perineal tearing, they will perform an episiotomy on her. After the episiotomy, the midwife can help the fetus to be delivered slowly in coordination with the contraction of the uterus. After the fetus is delivered, the incision will be sutured. Doing so can not only prevent the mother's perineum from being torn, but also prevent the fetal head from being damaged by prolonged pressure.

When delivering the fetal head, the mother should slow down the delivery, as delivering the fetus too quickly will not allow enough time to protect the perineum. At this time, the mother should cooperate closely with the doctor and midwife. The most important thing is to master breathing. When the uterus begins to contract, the mother should follow the steps below:

1. Bend your legs and spread them apart.

2. Try to relax your waist and don't exert any force.

3. Relax your limbs and hold both sides of the delivery bed with your hands.

4. Open your mouth slightly and breathe through your mouth.

5. When you don't need to exert any effort, take short and shallow breaths, like panting after a long run, making "ha, ha" sounds.

6. Follow the instructions of the midwife. When the contraction comes, take a deep breath and hold it. Grab both sides of the delivery bed with both hands and press your lower jaw to push hard as if you were having a bowel movement.

Prevention of vaginal tearing:

Vaginal lacerations are quite common in pregnant women, usually caused by a large fetus or abnormal labor force. So how can we prevent it?

1. Encourage women who are planning to get pregnant to take part in more physical exercise and physical activities before pregnancy to enhance the elasticity of skin and muscles and prevent obesity.

2. Strengthen prenatal health education and childbirth knowledge education. Change the traditional focus only on prenatal examinations and purely biomedical factors in delivery, and incorporate psychological counseling, guidance, and popularization of pregnancy and delivery knowledge into the obstetric work procedures, help pregnant women eliminate negative psychological conditions such as fear, anxiety, and impatience, prepare for delivery in the best psychological state, and shift from passive to active to ensure a natural, normal, and healthy delivery.

3. Actively prevent and treat obstetric complications during pregnancy, pay attention to the prevention and early treatment of vulvar and vaginitis, and strengthen perineum self-education.

4. If an examination during pregnancy finds that the fetus is large or the pregnant woman has given birth to a macrosomia in the past, the pregnant woman should be checked to see if she has any. If the pregnant woman has diabetes, she should be actively treated and, after 36 weeks of pregnancy, elective induced labor or cesarean section should be performed based on fetal maturity, placental function tests and diabetes control.

5. During prenatal check-ups, pregnant women with normal pelvis, estimated fetal weight below 4000g, and who are eligible for natural delivery, should be instructed to do levator ani exercises 1 to 2 weeks before the expected date of delivery, 1 to 2 times a day, each time for 5 to 10 minutes.
