Can drinking tea help you lose weight during breastfeeding?

Mothers should pay attention to diet during the breastfeeding period. It is best not to drink tea at this time, because tea contains tannic acid and some substances that promote mental excitement. These substances can easily enter the baby's body through breast milk secretion, which is not good for the baby's conditioning and can easily cause the baby to have symptoms such as insomnia and crying. In addition, tannic acid is easily combined with iron, which can cause symptoms of anemia in mothers.

Three disadvantages of drinking tea during breastfeeding:

1. Prone to cause anemia

The tannic acid contained in tea can combine with the iron in food, affecting the intestine's absorption of iron and causing anemia. The higher the concentration of tea, the higher the tannic acid content, and the more serious the impact on iron absorption. Breastfeeding women need to nourish their bodies, and drinking tea during breastfeeding will cause anemia, which is contrary to the purpose. At the same time, the caffeine in tea can enter the baby's body through breast milk, which can easily cause the baby to have intestinal cramps and sudden crying for no reason.

2. Impact on breastfeeding

Experts conclude that drinking tea during lactation will affect breastfeeding. If you drink a lot of tea during this period, the high concentration of tannic acid in the tea will be absorbed by the mucous membrane, which will affect the blood circulation of the mammary gland, inhibit the secretion of milk, and cause insufficient milk secretion.

3. Affect the baby's health

After the mother drinks the tea, the caffeine in the tea will be absorbed by the baby through breast milk, which will excite the baby's undeveloped organs such as the respiratory and stomach, causing the baby to breathe faster and cause stomach cramps, and the baby to cry for no reason or sleep less.

4. Notes

Breastfeeding mothers should avoid caffeinated coffee, soft drinks, chocolate and certain cold medicines. Premature babies excrete caffeine much more slowly than full-term babies, so mothers who breastfeed their premature babies are advised not to drink caffeinated beverages.
