Can pregnant women smell gardenia?

Gardenia is non-toxic and harmless, so you can grow it even if there is a pregnant woman at home! In addition to being ornamental, its flowers, fruits, leaves and roots can be used as medicine, which has the effects of relieving heat and relieving restlessness, clearing away heat and promoting urination, cooling blood and detoxifying. Its flower language is "eternal love, lifelong waiting and joy". Gardenia can definitely play a lot of roles in beautifying your home. If you place a gardenia next to the TV at home, it will not only beautify the interior space and absorb harmful radiation in the room, but also emit fragrance from time to time, covering up the original bland or even unpleasant smell, exchanging the air in the space and making the whole home full of poetry. However, the fragrance of gardenia is a bit strong. When growing gardenia at home, pregnant women should not get too close to smell the fragrance, because the fragrance of gardenia is too strong and can easily make people feel dizzy, nauseous, and weak, and may also cause allergic symptoms!

How to Grow Gardenias

1. Choose the right potting soil

Gardenia is an acid-loving flower, with an ideal pH value of 5 to 6. If the soil acidity is not appropriate, future management will be ineffective. The soil for cultivation can be leaf mold, peat soil, or fermented sawdust plus half garden soil. Avoid using old wall soil and coal slag. It is more convenient and practical to use commercially available Clivia soil.

2. Scientific watering

Gardenia likes moist soil and high air humidity. Keep the soil moist during the growing season from April to September. Water the potting soil when it becomes dry. At night, you can use a watering can to spray water on the leaves. If it dries out and wilts, it will be detrimental to its growth. If the plant grows too vigorously and has long internodes, do not water it at night. Water it in the morning when the sun comes out. In the alkaline water areas in the north, tap water should be left for two days before use. Every three to five days, water the plant thoroughly with an aqueous solution of 0.5 grams of citric acid and 1 gram of ferrous sulfate per liter to make the leaves glossy and green.

3. Get more sun

Gardenia likes light and can grow in semi-shade for a long time, but the branches are longer and the flowers are fewer. Except for the period from July to August when strong light at noon needs to be shaded and the winter dormancy period, it generally needs to be kept in the sun to flourish.

Although gardenia is non-toxic and harmless, it can be grown even if you have a baby at home. However, if you have a baby at home and want to grow gardenias, do not grow them indoors, because the fragrance of gardenias is too strong, so as to avoid the rich fragrance of gardenias making the baby feel uncomfortable. Growing flowers is a good habit for self-cultivation. More contact with green plants can make the body and mind healthier. Therefore, as long as pregnant mothers master the appropriate methods, they can grow gardenias.
